When ???
At what point of training?
At the day of the show?
During show training only?
A young dog going through IPO training to the same time?

Simply said: The more training, the more fat and protein; that said everything depends on your training ( most dogs just need regular food, because what people tend to call "training" is just laughable for dogs ).
At the day of the show a little food in the morning, right before the performance some eggyolk and some dextrose.

Personally I believe in green tripe and regular kibbles...

I'll second what Susie said ^ !! Absolutely, if you have a Showdog that is not doing strenuous extra training ( for AD, or IPO for example) you should just be feeding the very best and age-appropriate diet you can, to give the dog sufficient energy to do its ShowRing and basic obedience training and provide nutrition for any growing it has yet to do, and hopefully to keep it in excellent coat & condition. Which would probably mean going easy on the Protein levels. I too think one or other decent (probably mid-priced) 'complete' biscuit, with the addition of raw fresh or frozen tripe, is a great diet in those circumstances, but it will depend on what is available to you wherever you are based, and on whether you have any particular convictions about feeding Raw or whatever.

Hundmutter, our "show trained" dogs need around twice (up to 2 1/2 ) as much calories as "normal" IPO dogs ( given that those dogs are trained for IPO, too - but that's normal procedure over here, no trial, no good show rating ).
But at that point we are talking about show training, sled training, bicycle training, at least all of it twice a week, pulling on leash daily, all of it for several month, besides the IPO training 3 or 4 times the week; some people make use of treatmills, too.
But I guess outside of Germany that's not the norm...So good healthy food should be fine.

Yes Susie I was taking that into account, and answering from the UK p.o.v. where, as you say, its less likely the dog will be in much actual working training. Only a guess but sounds as though possibly the OP might be in India or Pakistan, in which case its still likely to be more like the UK Show scene than not. Neither of our posts discussed recommended amounts / calories involved, so the same advice applies, I'd just use more food and up the protein level if I was Showing a dog I was also seriously Training.
