Ok I need some food recommendations again!...

I had posted about a month ago looking for some ideas for a LAMB AND RICE ONLY kibble.... well I ended up talking to my vet as well as Jean Dodds and did the NutriScan DNA swab Food Intolerance testing... My dog is intolerant to several things..

He is currently eating the Natural Balance LID lamb and rice kibble and doing good.. the only thing is that the fat content is LOW, so I am looking for another kibble (only) that I could possibly switch too that has a bit more fat and protein than the Natural Balance LID lamb/rice.

I am looking for either a lamb/rice or beef/rice kibble. Ideally I would like to keep him on Lamb and rice as that is what has worked the best for him..

NO NO is.... Poultry, corn, pork, venison, wheat, barley, egg, lentil, legumes/peas , millet, oatmeal, regular and sweet potatoes, quinoa, rabbit, fish of any kind

OK is.. Beef, bison, lamb (NO other meat soureces at all!)

Rice as the ONLY starch

Olive oil, flaxseed oil and sunflower and coconut oil are OK

ANY IDEAS ON A KIBBLE?? I am at a TOTAL loss right now??!

If there is not another kibble then I will leave him on the Natural Balance LID kibble. I am not looking at doing raw right now either.. (Have someone living in the house here who has MAJOR immune issues)

THANKS!!!

You left LEGUMES / PEAS out of your "NO NO" list ...

Why does the extra fat / protein content have to come from another kibble ? Don't understand what you can't add a little raw, or cooked, fresh lamb or beef, if he tolerates those, which should give you that element. Sorry if you have explained and I missed it somehow.

Thank you! I added the NO LEGUMES to the no no list... I did say no lentils, but I added the word legumes/peas too it as well.

As for the adding raw... I had mentioned in the last paragraph.. " I am not looking at doing raw right now either.. (Have someone living in the house here who has MAJOR immune issues)".

Her doctor has said the not touch raw meat, So I do not want to take the chance as once in a while she needs to feed the dog if I am not home.

Then do small batches of lightly cooked plain fresh human-grade meat, devide them into whatever amount you feel you need for meals, box them in the fridge and let your friend serve it onto the kibble with tongs. Dog will still get extra meat protein and some fat. If he misses it for one or two meals because you don't have enough notice of being away to prepare sufficient in advance, he won't suffer all that much of a loss if he's getting it all the rest of the time.

What about adding coconut oil to your present kibble each meal for some good fats. Also maybe some raw beef fat butcher trimmings or tallow.

She's still got the problem with the raw, Koots, unless that element is just skipped any time the friend is doing the feeding. Coconut oil sounds a good idea, (certainly would give extra fat content), but pitfall may be in adding a further untested element to the diet ?

He can have coconut oil and I am slowly adding it to his diet..

As for the raw right now, I do not want to take the chance with my mom getting sick.. So right now not interested in doing any raw at this time... THANKS.

However, I am looking for a KIBBLE to switch too... I just do not like his coat and weight he is at on Natural Balance LID lamb and rice... which is why I am looking for an LID either lamb and rice or LID beef and rice kibble that meets what I listed above..

Which is why I posted here on PDB to see if there is a kibble that I have not thought of that fits the criteria above.. He has never had a great coat on the Natural Balance so I would like to switch to something that may help that improve... and also since he is so active I would like a kibble with a little more protein/fat content as well..

Rice as the ONLY starch.... Olive oil, flaxseed oil and sunflower and coconut oil are OK in the kibble, just NO fish oil at all!

i remember to seen some data, according to which 70% dog food ingredients manufactured in China.
curious how in such circumstances one can find decent healthy dog food on retailer's shelves?
"made in China" shouldn't be seen as indication of country but rather and foremost as a warning.
what stay in the way to share with your dog your meal?

I would check Petcurean "Go" line; or Daily Defense line; good luck.
