How would linebreeding/inbreeding 1-2 on a moderate dog cause the future generations to be "more extreme?" Sounds like heavily subjective and biased verbiage in order to prove a point that isn't there.

"putting big heads to big heads does not make them any bigger"

If this were true, where from did the BIGGEST head dogs get their heads?

Swarn, nobody doubts generations of selection will produce "big heads" - but right now we are talking about dogs popping up all of a sudden, with heads NOT looking like any German Shepherd Dog heads ( and skin ) any of us have ever seen.
I have seen several "big size heads" - none of them looked like the pictures of those Chinese dogs.

That's just what is considered a normal strong male head in WGSL. Not remotely like the slack skinned, deep chopped heads on the Chinese dogs. Since the same bloodlines are in use all over the world and already pretty inbred, if they were capable of producing those mastiff type heads, they would be cropping up all over the world without any even trying to produce them.

Must have been a "sudden mutation"...maybe due to the Chinese air...
Let's be real-I have seen thousands of GS Dogs during my life-I have been sitting in a lot of whelping boxes-I have never seen dogs like that- and I have never seen brindles, piebalds, or whites poppig out of regular coated DNAed parents...

I guess it boils down to the amazing canine genome, witch allowed us humans to breed all different kinds of dogs. Recent archeological findings proved that the human canine relationship date back to 33000 years ago. In fact is the dog the first domestic animal ever. Many mankind endeavors, moving form hunter gatherers to farming or colonizing harsh environment were not possible without the aid of the dog.

Breeds that have a known creator were achieved within a human adult live time, the good Capitan started at 31 years. And all breeds were created by mixing. Certainly in this Chinese case.

Since all breeds are created out of this amazing genome there will be mutations, that is why standards are kept . Here in Europe if you don,t have a registerd pedigree by the SV or VDH your dog will be considerd as a look alike.

I find the picture of the GSD with a mastiff head so troubling! I have been into GSDs from a young child, when they were known as Alsatians in India and England.
This is NOT a GSD! Please lets keep the breed true to form, as Capt. Max von Stephanitz requested.!

Don't think you'll get much argument from us on here about that, 'drakkar' - problem is, how to stop others from breeding for it !
