Many of my Christian friends voted for Trump because of his strong pro-life stand. For them, there was no other choice, because they regard abortion as murder.

I wonder how they are feeling about him now?  https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-55236260

Five executions are scheduled before President-elect Joe Biden's 20 January inauguration - breaking with an 130-year-old precedent of pausing executions amid a presidential transition.

And if all five take place, Mr Trump will be the country's most prolific execution president in more than a century, overseeing the executions of 13 death row inmates since July of this year.

The five executions began this week, starting with convicted killer 40-year-old Brandon Bernard who was put to death at a penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana. The execution of 56-year-old Alfred Bourgeois will take place on the evening of 11 December.

Attorney General William Barr has said his justice department is simply upholding existing law. But critics have said the move is concerning, coming just weeks before Mr Biden - who has said he will seek to end the death penalty - takes office.

Yeah I saw that on tv news this morning as Brandon Bernard's death was covered here. Can't comment on the rights and wrongs of why these 5 people are facing / have faced the death penalty, and I suppose that if any country still has a death penalty then its up to that country to implement it.

However, there is a stark contrast between this sudden rush to get these killings done with, in the time left to Chump, and his use of the outgoing Pardons to relieve his lying cronies of their worries about ending up in jail themselves.

Does not really give the impression of Christian conviction. But then, so much about this supposedly religious POTUS and his supporters does not strike me as fitting very well with the Christian doctrine I was educated with as a child. At least people like me are honest about rejecting the Bible.

Hundmutter, Trump has played to his Christian base. IMO, he is not any sort of a Christian. In an interview, he was unable to quote a favourite Bible verse. He also said he doesn't believe he needs to ask for forgiveness, which is one of the most central things in the Christian faith. https://www.cnn.com/2015/07/18/politics/trump-has-never-sought-forgiveness/index.html

In one of his books, 'Think Big', he calls Christians "fools" and "idiots" and "schmucks".

When he was running for election in 2016, he came out in support of LGTQ people, even waving a rainbow flag around. Once elected, he did everything he could to make life worse for them. I believe he did the same thing with Christians - telling them what they wanted to hear to get elected, while not living a Christian lifestyle himself.

Mountain Lion, banning abortions does not stop babies from being killed. It only forces abortions underground, then often both mother AND child die!

Being a male, I really don't expect you to understand what's involved in a late-term abortion. We are talking less than 1% of total abortions. If a mother is still carrying a baby at 20 weeks, she is fully expecting to deliver it. She probably has a name picked out, and has bought a crib and decorated the room. Instead, she finds her fetus is non-viable, and has a defect that is incompatible with life. Or that she has some medical condition which will put her own life at risk if she were to carry the pregnancy to term.

It is much less stressful on the woman's body to deliver a 20 week old fetus rather than a much larger full-term baby, so banning late term abortions is putting the life of the mother at risk.

I'm one of many people that feels this is a decision that should be left to the woman and her doctor, NOT the government. No doctor in their right mind is going to abort a 3rd trimester fetus just because the mother decides on a whim that she no longer wants the baby. And no mother in her right mind is going to carry a baby that far into a pregnancy and want to abort it unless there is something seriously, seriously wrong.

Many right-wing republicans are against birth control, and feel it should not be funded by the government. They are also against sex ed being taught in the schools, feeling it encourages casual sex. This creates the ideal circumstances for unwanted pregnancies, which, of course, often lead to abortions.

Here's how Colorado cut the abortion rate by a substantial percentage:

Okay, won't let me post a second picture... see next post!

In contrast, Alabama has one of the most conservative Republican governments. Here's how they are faring with mother and child welfare:

Any & all of which just goes to show what rank hypocrisy is going down, around Chump and his followers - many of whom don't even see how they have been conned.

The Germans certainly have no love for Trump:

Prominent German news magazine Der Spiegel on Thursday named President Trump its “loser of the year,” the same day Time magazine named President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris its “Person of the Year.”

In an article titled "Der Verlierer des Jahres," which translates as "The Loser of the Year,” the publication’s Washington bureau chief Roland Nelles and Berlin-based correspondent Ralf Neukirch described Trump as "a man who ... was never concerned with the common good, but always with one thing — himself."

"Nothing is normal under Trump," the article added. “He refuses to admit defeat. Instead, he speaks of massive electoral fraud, although there is no evidence for it. The whole thing is not surprising. Trump's presidency ends as it began. Without decency and without dignity."

'We' have not named Chump "Dick of the Year 2020" but only because he was pushed into 2nd place by Dominic Cummings.

I believe in executions for heinous crimes and when warranted. I believe in a woman's right to choose what to do with her body, BUT, she may not use abortion as a method of birth control, end of.
I believe in abortions when a child will be brought into a world of misery, pain and neglect, but, I do not believe in simply dispensing birth control options to children under the age of 18 without parental consent.
I believe in parental involvement throughout the child's life and in being able to raise responsible kids that respect themselves as well as others.
I believe that ideally, both parents will be present in a child's life as its growing up so that the child can benefit from the experience and hopefully the wisdom of both parents.
Finally, I believe I have an open mind, but, not so open that my brains fall out. None of the above is based on any religious doctrine as I am not religious.
