What's ND, Nan?

by joanro on 12 April 2015 - 16:04

Nature's Domain? I used it for years, good results until they changed the formula and caused tons of poop, dogs not staying thrifty. Contrary to what some claim, I see a huge corrilation in a dog's overall wellbeing and the feed they are provided. That's not just with gsd, but with every breed imaginable over the years taking in training dogs and rescues, and boarding dogs.

Excellent stuff. Just talked to a friend who is seeing better results than Orijen with less water consumption and 25% less food intake.

I think it's kind of hard to go wrong feeding one of the high end foods. I normally look to see how the Dog Food Advisor and Jean Dodds rates a commercial food and go from there. The Honest Kitchen appeals to my lazy side - instant raw,  just add water - and, as I've already said, it's great to take when traveling with a dog. I loved Victor too, but it 's a lot easier to tote around a 10 lb box of dehydrated food than a 30 lb bag of kibble. Of course most of our dogs could probably do as well on Eukanuba, but could we Teeth Smile?

A food I really like is Merrick. It is made here in the USA (no ingredients from China). They have a good grain free line as well as a new one that just came out.... a Limited Ingredient diet. They also now have one call BACKCOUNTRY. It is a raw infused food (like Instinct). I have not fed the new formulas as they just came out within the last couple weeks. However, I have read the ingredients and they look very good..... and the price for this food is reasonable as well.

I like Merrick Grain Free too and will feed in rotation with raw.  I also like to add just a little of their grain free canned on tope dogs love it.  real meat actually looks delicious!!
