and somebody said Yasko F. was in the US (for a while?) Where is he, (why?), and how long will he stay ? I AM CURIOUS YASKO (tee hee)

by RedDoggie on 25 November 2004 - 02:11

old, old news.....The great Yasko is with Bill Fleischerheim....www.Fleischerheim.com.......standing at stud, for probably a long time....Consider him, for practical purposes, a North American dog!!!

by SGBH on 25 November 2004 - 03:11

I emailed Mr. Fleischerheim to inquire about a breeding with Yasko and was wondering what the procedure would be to register the puppies, assuming Yasko was only SV registered. He answered my email, explaining that Yasko would probably spend out his life in the USA. He also said that Yasko was already registered with the AKC, thus answering my registration question.

Yasko is the greatest living German Shepherd dog alive today PERIOD.

by sunshine on 25 November 2004 - 05:11

Yasko man, that is good marketing. The best stud of this current period is Larus and not Yasko. Yasko is kind of old news. Like it or not. Times have moved on. Great that Yasko is here but who is still actively breeding to Yasko in Germany?

by HOWDEDO on 25 November 2004 - 05:11

sunshine, that is a little harsh. Yasko produced Larus and is now available for US breeders to take advantage of. The fact that he is not in germany does not make him a lesser dog.

by sunshine on 25 November 2004 - 06:11

Howededo, harsh perhaps alittle but realistic. No? Look at all the super dogs that were imported to the US and not used. Why help Mr. Fleishersheim put a veil on the situation. This guy is absolutely new to this. And he deserves an honest opinion if he put himself up here. I would even venture, he is looking for it or he would not even post. Maybe he is questioning already. Yasko may very well be Old News in some Facet, but do not forget he is also one of the ONLY dogs living whom has taken a Siegership Two times? That alone will speak for itself! Hey Gardner, hows that Cattle business going? Jerry

If you look at the SID Deck reports, Yasko was holding his own in Germany. He didn't leave for lack of use. 26 breedings in the past 4 months. Very respectable. Good producer too. You can read the comments about his group on this website from many that were there. He followed in his father's footsteps as his son is following in his. Excellent opportunity to breed with one of Germany's best producers. Yaskoman would be better off financially to put him right back in Germany and finish his breding carear where he is being used. Most Americans will breed to the dog down the street. That's where we fall short as a country. When a good dogs comes here, he's not used. Look at the number of breeders in Germany that use other breeders dogs and look here. The typical US breeding program is one male bred to all females in the kennel. So we wonder why we lag behind. We have opportunities to breed to known producers and worry more about who bought the dog, why the dog is here, why was he sold, how much did they pay for him than taking advantage of dogs that undeniably have contributed to the breed at the world level.

The question is, what is he going to do in the US? I see the long line in Dallas already of brood bitches waiting for Yasko. . . Sorry, but look at the predecessors... do you see any of the benefactors of these other great dogs still around? No, they are not with us anymore as their dogs. It is kind of hypocritical from the one or other commentator above to import the first placed dogs at the latest shows but on the same line adamently defend the breeding in this country and the contribution Yasko will make to this breed here. I want to see a VA1 dog that is bred and raised in the USA at the USA or NASS Siegershow. What do you want to see? Sunny
