Thats good to see a sable so sucessfull! I like sable, they look wild and brave, besides we cant forget the German Shepherd first came in the sable version (Horand).
Lets keep the collor diversity in our breed that patrimony.

I hope sables are preserved in all versions.

Champ's mother IS a sable female.
I cannot tell you how many times I've heard "incorrect" comments regarding the producing of the sable color.

You MUST have a sable parent to produce a sable puppy!..
The Arlett Kennel keeps the sable color gene in her bloodlines.

Just as an add on, his son Orlando von der Vallendarer-Höhe SchH2 made V3, 2 places behind his father at the Irish Sieger show.

Many Congratulations on the title win of Sieger at the Irish Sieger Show. If his young sable son here on the mainland is anything to go by, he is passing his quality onto his progeny.
All the best for the future.

"...to produce a sable one of the parents MUST be a sable!"

This is absolutely true. Vienchen is sable.

Brandi, of course Champs mother is a sable, not a great coloured sable but a sable never the less. This colour comes through Vienchen,Jock,Soffie,Etc Etc and I think you will find that to produce a sable one of the parents MUST be a sable!

To All,

From someone that has a TRUE sable...there are many different variables of this color. A big one to remember...we have our Show line GSD sable and the working line GSD sable. They are very different. Jock is close to a sable as is Champ. Though it's much different than the working line sables. And to be honest, the closest sable yet is ONLY in Timo(and his progeny). Compare Timo and Champ... different aren't they? Then compare these two boys to say...Eagle v. Eichenluft...VERY different, yes? Yes. I'm not a strong believer in, one parent has to be sable in order to produce a sable. Champ's Mom is NOT a sable, nor is his Dad either. But I think certain dilutes to others can produce sables. It just all depends on what line/colors are bred together. No one REALLY knows for sure how some of these dogs, such as Champ become sables...

Hi Ogi, I think you need to explain very, very, carefully. to produce a sable, one of the parents HAS to be a sable. then again, they may wish to argue about that FACT. its not unusual in these debates, anything goes.

hi schaeferhund,
if you agree with me champ´s father is b/t and if you think his mother is also b/t could you please explain to all of us how two b/t´s have managed to produce a sable.
thanks in advance

They say, when they have doubts about what to put down as colour they examine single hairs. With black/tan dogs (week pigmentation or not) the hairs are homogenous in colour, where in sable dogs the hairs are multicoloured. To me Champ is definitely sable, but his mom I would rather call b/t. :) Well, I guess she's just hardcore borderline :)

That's one weak sable color I see red and black with a weak saddle mark I see parents that look red/black. But, I'll take your word and the registration papers for it.
