Hi all, I'm looking for information about this judges tendencies. Does anyone know if he is "working dog friendly"? There is a regional show coming up that he is the judge for, ...I'd like to know if I should try for my show rating under him or save my money and wait for another time. Thanks for any advice.

If you are talking working-line dogs, no he is not a judge I would enter under (with a working-line dog). In the show I was in , he put the working-line dogs at the end of the line first thing, put them outside the ring for go-away and come-back gaiting (and never watched them go/come) and then gave them all G KKl-2. Not saying he won't pass a working-line dog, but you won't be getting KKl-1 under him, in my experience (with a working-line dog)

Thanks Eichenluft, That is the advice I was looking for. My dog is definately a working line dog so I will go with your advice and wait until next time. Are there judges that you would recommend? I've heard that Wilfried Scheld will give a working-line dog a fair evaluation and is judging at the Canadian Nationals...

You def. should wait. I did a dog under him 3 yrs ago. No working line at the event got better than a g, no showline got lower than an SG. I have a couple of dogs to get ratings on, but they'll wait.

I highly recommend SV Kormeister Helmet Konig. He looks at the workingline the same as the showline. He speaks ok english and is VERY nice. I recieved a KKL1 on my working female. We will for sure have him back.

Yes, Scheld, Seifert, Konig, Bosl - and there are a few others I'm certain I am missing, that will give as good a look to each dog regardless of working/show lines. molly

Include Franz Peter Knaul. He is fair if the dog(s) have decent structure

Peter Arth is an excellent judge. He will put a dog up regardless of working or show bloodlines if the dog is correct in structure and fit and shown well. We have had him for a show here. Helmut König is also an excellent judge and two years ago put several sables in the front of the class when they were correct and fit and were shown properly. He will be judging our trial, show and breed survey June 24 and 25 (next weekend) in Colorado.

We had Johannes Grewe and were very pleased with him. He was a very nice man and showed no unfair biases at all. Should definitely consider him.

I don't think that I have had a chance to show under this judge but then I would have to ask has he EVER come to our Region? (I was under the impression that there were only two judges able to come to CT some sort of "visa" thing.)

Any SV approved judge can come to your region if there is an invitation that they accept and they are qualified to judge the particular event. For example, we are a small club and want to use a single SV judge for our trial, show and breed survey. So that limits us to a handful of SV judges. There is no need for a visa as they are coming to judge, not to stay for an extended time period or work in the states.

I have shown several gray working dogs under Ruckert and done surprisingly well (V, SG1, Kkl. 1...) I would love to bring Konig over later this yr for a 3 day trial, show & survey at our little club. Also would bring Knabe, but haven't heard word of him in yrs...(?) Messler was never afraid to put a working dog of any color at the sweet end of a class. Knabe & Messler speak EXCELLENT English.
