I have a solid black male that I bought a couple weeks ago. I brought him home and put him in a 5 foot high run for about an hour while I ate supper. He jumped out of the run and his back leg got caught between the pannels and he was stuck there for about 20 minutes, I was able to free him and he was running around just fine. I felt swelling around the area were he was caught and I took him to my vet to make sure everything was ok. The vet gave me some pain pills and antibiotics to give him and said he would be fine in about 3 to 4 days. Well black dog decided to chew the sore area and the next day I could see raw meat on the inside and outside of his rear leg, I took him back to the vet and he bandaged him up and we gave him more antibiotics just to be safe. It has been a week and this thing does not seem to be healing, any suggestions on how to make this heal more quickly? he runs on it and does not seem to be in any pain, he is 18 months old.

Hi blueshep, email YR, amazing what she can come up with, she loves this stuff from the feed store, can not think of the name.

How are you? I am having issues with people, I have never had before, driving me nuts. I am like Santa thou, Keeping a list and plan on throwing alot of them out come spring. I am amazed at the younger generation and how entitled they feel. Have a few older ones right now just blowing my mind.

Hey 1doggie, I know there is something that helps heal this type of problem a little quicker than wrapping it up, You have to have air on a cut for it to heal. I will e-mail Yellow. Yes this younger generation can be trying at times, I sometimes think our generation has it the hardest with taking care of our parents and the younger ones at the same time. Seems like they just don't get it...
take care
Dave

blueshep -- I use Pink Lady -- it is for Horse and Dog wounds.   I haven't had anything as serious as what you have described, but my pup scraped his muzzle and all the hair was gone and it was bleeding.  I put Pink Lady on it, and it healed very nicely and all the hair filled back in quickly.   Now, I can't even see where the wound was on his muzzle.

You might want to get a second vet oppinion, it depends on how long circulation was cut off to the area,  this can cause complications.

I really hate those kind of injuries, muscle damage because of the circulation being cut off, I would also agree second opinion. Twenty minutes is a long time to be caught on a fence. Not to scare you but I have seen dogs loose a leg from that kind of injury and because he has chewed the area make me think that there is far more going on there.

Thank's for all the advice. It really isn't that bad other than the cut is not scabbing over. My vet is a good one and  he said it looked worse than it is. Took your advice yellow and made a trip to the store today. We will watch and see.
