New puppy! Pics posted and need help with a name. (39 replies)

This is my first show line female. I have always had working lines up to this point. However, she is a high drive show line. I can't even walk without her latching onto my pants and forget putting a sweater on with her around ... she'll bite hold of the sleeve quicker than I can get it on, LOL.
She is just turned 12 weeks. I brought her home a few days ago, but have still not come up with a name. Anyone have suggestions for a nice sounding B name? I don't like what I saw on the database here and would prefer something more unusual and less used.
Thanks

Bertha and Bestla were the only two German (Teutonic) B-name goddesses.
Britomartis was a gorgeous ancient greek nymph - I don't think there were actually any Greek goddesses with B-names.
Brize was the gadfly sent by Zeus to torture Io. She was a toughie.
Bremusa was one of the 12 Amazons who went to Troy in the Trojan War.

But I actually think Red Sable's recommendation -- BEATRICE -- is great. Beatrice, of course, was Dante's guide in Paradise.

JRANSOM - Brinka is a scandinavian word and means what you think (if you think about it!). If you go to "the brink" you go to the edge, or cliff, or to the verge of an argument or emotion. BRINKA means the hill or slope or grassy slope or cliff.
Brinka could be a dog who takes you to a new edge, a new view. Makes some nice sense for Ramage who is handling his first showlines dog.
It is related to the Swedish Brink, the Icelandic Brekka, etc.
Come to think of it, BREKKA is a nice name, too. Same meaning -- to the brink, edge, verge.

MVF,
Thanks, now I know what it means. I've always loved that name. A friend adopted a long hair GSD and ask for help w/a name. I said Brinka and that's what her name was. She was a realy good dog, companion. She has been gone a long time now though.

| Really striking and bold colors, she truly is a beauty!! Have lot of fun and many happy years with her. I can't think of a B name that has not been mentioned, however I am partial to Bella. Elaine |

|
| Actually, ramage, if you don't mind foreign language you might consider Bonita= beautiful, Brabo = sounds like Brah-bo, means vigrous, strong, capable, alive. Bronco/Bronca= means rowdy. Just a few ideas. Elaine |

She is good looking pup. My suggestion for the name of your brand new pup would be Alpha. Being that this is your first showline pup and the begining of new relationship. By the way when you get a chance check this page and see if it interest you. www.myspace.com/mjaK9 and for further information please contact me at:

Thanks everyone!
I love many of the names posted. I am going to write down the ones I like best and think them over.
I was looking all over the country for a nice pup, but ended p finding this one only 5 miles from my house! Is that not fate or what? LOL
Here is her pedigree:
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/624886.html
She is listed as Bikie, but I want to change that. I'm just not crazy about the name Bikie.
GSD - yes, quite a change for me! I still want to remain mostly with working lines, but I thought it was time to try out a show line and see what they are all about. However, I was firm on getting a show line WITH drive. That was not an option I wold budge on. Luckily, the breeder had 3 females left and this one had high enough drives for my taste.
Our sable working male is going to a police department next week. We are maintaining breeding rights, though. I am excited for the dog and look forward to him getting his certification. |
