I’ve been going through a number of GSD websites and well, why do breeders use their dog’s call names on their website instead of the dog’s full registration name.  People such as myself can’t use call names to check pedigrees or health results with the KC before approaching a breeder. And if I can’t do that, well, I move on to the next one.

I would have thought that if people are going to the trouble to set up a website, why not put the dogs full registration name on it ????

I'm planning to use a stud named Cruger the Boom Kraftwerk, and that IS his registered name, oddly enough.

Mark3,
I would pass up the websites you describe.
Why?
If they do not offer pedigree information, give only pet names, no mention of health checks, OFA, your better off moving on.
They set up the websites to make money on people who do not know any better.
You now know better.

Moons.

That’s exactly what I thought, Two Moons. There are hips scores on there but not many elbows on some.  I can’t check them out on call names and when I can’t check them out, then I don’t touch.   If the call name is the registration name, believe me I will find it.   It just doesn’t give a good impression to the public and I put this on here in the hope that the public will see it too.

So if there are legitimate breeders out there that don’t want people to think there is something to hide, put the dog’s registration name on your websites, pedigrees would be good too.
