Time sure flies by....she is good sized for 5 months. I like the 2nd picture...very attentive. |

Nice, she is much bigger, really focused, your training shows! |

My Isabelle is also five, she doesn't look as large.
How much would you say Izzy weighs now, just curious.
I'll have to get a few pics of mine if I can ever get some help with a camera.
I have just started working my Issy on a long line, she's doing well but has picked up a few bad habits from my older female.
Mainly digging holes, and running in the woods when she's supposed to stay in the yard.
Your Izzy is looking very nice Steve.

Steve,
I have the same problem with my photographer (my husband)! LOL Izzy is just gorgeous! These are great pics in that you can tell she is going to be awesome! Love the focus. Keep sharing!

I like the 3rd picture of her standing/ slow walking looking up and not crowding. Very calm composure. Do you do this focus on the ball? Guess not as I see you have one hand on the lead and the other in your pocket unless there is a sausage sticking out of your mouth. Only joking. Still, would like to know a little about your focus training for Izzy.
Great also to know that Two Moons has Issy the same age to exchange notes etc. Are you doing schutzhund training with Issy TM?

Hi, Yes that is me with my old Overalls on i wear them because we clean out the pigeons and see to them before taking the Dogs out, And it is dark here at this time of the year until 8oclock in the mornings and we start with the pigeons at 6oclock in the mornings
I took her to the Club as soon as she had her vaccinations but she was trained at the Club tonight for the first time only 5 minutes as they were preparing for the practise session on Saturday for the Belgian Nationals
I think she suprised a few with the way she walked and focused but there was a lot of distractions
The ones in the photos are in a car park 400m from home, I only do a little each morning about five to ten minutes just to get her thinking about it no hurry When she stays at a sit and comes first call of Heree and sits in front of me then i will practise getting here to down for about 20 seconds or so a little at a time
I think in 2 months time she will be going on okay, at the moment her teeth are changing so i do not do any protection just keep her outside the fence and the Helper teases her from inside She Barks and goes at him but not to bite
I bought a soft Harness to wear for protection to save the pressure of the collar on her neck it would not be nice especially when her teeth are playing her up thanks for the comments i think she will do me very nice later on, she is a willing little worker but with a lot of fire in her just what we like in a Pup

Steve,
I had the chance today to weigh my pup, she seems light at 46 pounds, on an empty stomach.

| She is a nice looking girl Steve! I miss having a sable, so I love to look at them.... Is it cold over there yet? Last week, here in NW Montana it was 8 degrees in the morning. Today it felt like spring! I was thinking of you out there at 6:00am with your pidgeons in the dark!! |

Hey Steve!
I sent you an email... Izzy is looking like quite the proper little lady! I laughed when you said she surprised you with her focus. Maybe she knew there was a camera nearby :-)
Looking forward to hearing about the Belgian Nationals. I hope Como cleans house!!!!
Matt is really starting to like Como more and more. I really like Dido.
So we are already going back and forth with each other over who our next puppy will be from :-) Too bad Como and Dido are so closely related, I would beg the breeder to make that cross. Even still, I would take one of those puppies so fast, even with all the risks involved in. SO quick question, would that breeding be considered a very tight linebreeding, or inbreeding? You can email me if you prefer, interesting topic, I think....
Anyway, glad you posted the new pictures. Happy Birthday to Izzy Bitch!

Hi Stacy
No i do not think that mating would be done as good as it looks, And for me Both Parents are so good Dido is a really outstanding female as is Babsi Izzys mother, And the risk of getting Pups with any fault is just not fair on the Pups, what can be done with them if there were
Possibly things would be okay as it is a very much line bred mating but the chance is still there
Then of Course you will have wasted a mating of two great Dogs and getting Como for a mating would not be that easy although in this case they are very good friends but say for anyone else it would not be easy i would think
The Mating Of Como and Babsi as you know was partly or mostly my idea, and i was adamant he should put them together, and i am blamed for the outcome, for the litter mate in Belgium is a great focused little Male and he will do well i do not know of the others that went abroad
Anyway as you know the breeder decided to mate Babsi with Como to hopefully get some more little Izzys
and he will be sure to keep a female himself this time thats what i think, But he blames me for it happening and i am pleased to take the blame for i know i have the right Pup if i can do my job right and it is me where the fault will lie if we do not do okay
But then he has other excellent matings which will work just as well like the Zasko - Hetty mating if i had the room i would have one myself from Hetty and Zasko although i have a Son of him now which my brother handles but we do not have room or the time to see to more than one dog at a time each properly the way we like to do it
And even if they do not come up to the standard we expect on the Sch field they will stay with us until they or we pass over which ever happens first for although we want to do well in the sport, the Dogs are more important to us than a few Titles, but in this case i think both will do fine in that area,
Anyway you know he does not do things in a hurry a lot of thought goes into the breedings to get the best possible working dog out opossible with top quality joints He is as you know a very caring breeder and a clever one as well

Moons your Izzy is a but the right weight for her age i would say. My Izzy i do not know i will have to use the Vets scales to weigh her
The last time i weighed her on the 3rd August she was 34lb, so i guess she will have added to that now, but i think she is much the same as your pups weight about the 44-48 lb i will get her down next week to put her on the Vets Scales for a check it pays too

Hi Steve,
Thanks for clarifying. It would be a shame to waste a breedng from either Como or the beautiful Dido! You put it into a much better perspective for me, thank you. He is quite a clever breeder and Matt and I were looking at a few different pedigrees from WUSV competitors who competed this year that had breedings of his up pretty close in their pedigrees.
I remember when you and I first met you had told me about how Izzy came about. It sounds like you too, have a great understanding of these dogs and what should click. I know it is not just about putting two pedigrees together or two good dogs. There is so much thought that goes into a mating when you want a healthy litter with a high percentage of dogs that can do the work they were bred for.
I know the breeder must be very happy with Izzy's litter to repeat the breeding. You must be very pleased.
You already know that Matt and I will keep you well informed of Indi's progress. The breeder tells me everyone who came to see the litter kept choosing her because she was with her tail and ears up, stirring trouble with her brothers :-)
I can hardly wait to get her home. Matt is really going to enjoy her!
Thanks again for the explaination. Talk to you soon

Steve1,
My last pup Indy was a horse from the get go and still is. I guess thats why I seem to see Isabelle as small after watching the other grow.
The size doesn't matter to me really, I was just going by your pictures and your Izzy seems very nice and of good size for her age.
I am hoping mine takes after her father but keeps her mothers nose.
So far so good.

Steve, she is a very nice pup. You can tell your 5 minutes is showing in how she moves forward, her body is straight and not having her backend swinging out away from you. Keep up the good work. She seems very happy to be with you.

Steve,
Wonderful looking dog!! What nice focus at such young age!
Stacy,
Are you two looking at your NEXT pup already? Indi's not even home yet LOL!

LOL Not really Jason. Probably not for two years. Galan has me working a lot harder than I thought he would, and Matt will have his hands full with Indi. Of course if something really amazing came up.... Hehe, no we are going to be in for a tough couple years...just daydreaming :-)
Buckeye fan, nice looking puppy |

Absolutely stunning, Steve and Buckeye...
Steve, Izzy's coloring hasn't changed as much as I thought it might; she's a really pretty pup and very focused. She's a real pistol, from the looks of her, and you're doing wonderfully with her.

Her colour is a little darker than the Pic shows, the quality of the Pic is not great plus the sun was shining and my brother standing in the wrong place taking long distance shots did not help
However she will never really be a dark colour, but i am only interested in how her working ability is
Her mother is much her colour i think, on another new thread i did you can see her daddy Como is a lot darker
Steve1 |
|
|
|
|
Steve,
Yes, I saw the other thread...
I think she's a very nice looking dog, quite ladylike!
Her daddy's quite a looker too, She's got a lot of him in her expression, and her working ability, from what you've said.
The sun does lighten color, but I think your brother has been taking great pictures, even so. If he zoomed in, the scope of the picture would be lost. When I take a picture that I like one specific aspect of, and want to enlarge, then I'll go in and crop it, but I always keep the original, like I did with the one I posted a while back of my daughter and Oakley walking toward me...I cropped it down to show only the dog and the kid's legs, for her privacy, but I have the original that shows the whole child.
Still, nice pictures, great dog (I do admit to a little smidge of envy on that), and I wish you the very best of luck. She's really something.

Hey, Steve,
Is it starting to get really cold there, yet?
Trailrider and a few others of us nearly froze to death (LOL) last week from near zero temps, record cold nights last week!
If it's warmer, I'm glad for you!
Crys |

No it was not very warm this morning so i put onenough clothes, nothing worse than standing watching and slowly freezing Rinus complained he could not feel his feet
We have had Frosts here already and Minus 4 degrees centigrade if it stays like that this winter i will be happy but it will not of course
A couple of times the Dogs drinking water was frozen over in the mornings

She's looking great Steve... Must be everyone was on their "I" litter @ the same time. Ikon will be 5 months in a couple days. He's got his own take on working ... LOL

|
|
|
|
|
Ikon looks a very laid back Pup. not much will phase him
Buckeye. He is looking good a well made little Lad, How is the change of teeth going on with your Pups. Izzy is going on okay, but i will keep her off biting for a time yet although she is waiting for the chance
Steve1 |
|
|
|
|
We're bucking tradition, while Ikon would like nothing better than to get into bite work. Instead we're doing the flirt pole which he loves, standard doggie toy tuggies (favorite being a stuffed football with a rope thru it). And teaching him control. He has been doing well with "SIT" and "Wait" before anticipated activities such as getting in the car, eating... and once he's solid on them we'll do the same with retreiving a ball or toy.
Ike's canines are just coming thru... he's in that double tooth stage. I've no doubt that he'll take to bite work at a later date, but for now we're taking it slow and working on building a total dog, Not just one who is a sport dog.
He is still a cuddler, especially in the evening when he likes to curl up in the chair with my spouse. Unfortunately I don't think it'll be much longer that he'll fit.

Steve, Izzy is looking good, and she is in very capable hands with you. Good luck with her as she progresses. Liz.

The Harness is made by K9 i bought it at a stand where they were holding a trial for the Belgian Nationals next Sunday
Windwalker that Ikon is one laid back Pup you have there looks great
Moons i weighed Izzy this morning she weighed in at 44 lb so i think about right for 5 months old
I checked her teeth also and ahe has a Doble tootheach side the rest are replaced, but i felt a little wobble on one so that will soon go out now
I will keep her off Biting until the Gums have hardened or set, so about a month or so and we can really get going with her
In the meantime tracking she is like an express train head down and away must slow her down now, plus her Obed can be worked on 5 minutes i think three times a day is enough for her to focus at her age, then she will not lose interest
Yes, she is a sports Dog but still she is treated as any other Dog plenty of walks and time with me but training is three times a week at the club and she looks forwards to jumping in the trailor to go, she will have a full life but a varied one the only difference to a lot of dogs is she lives outdoors and thats the way it has been with me for 60 years with dogs but i think just the same about them as the next Guy

Steve, I love the new pics. Izzy has such an expression on her face! I have to say, I still agree with my original opinion that she's a stunning young dog! I enjoy seeing new pics of her and hearing what she is doing...Sure makes my work with my girl (basic obedience stuff) look like child's play, but I'm not training for what you're training for, so I'm content.
What a noble breed we love!

I need an outlet from the racing pigeons, They are hard work through beginning of April to 2nd week of August
Planning, training, Feeding, once we come to June we have an all Europe International Long distance race every week so i am training and feeding say 4 to6 birds for this week basket Tuesdays and also changing the feed for the next little group the week after and so on through the season plus the right amount of work for each pigeon they all differ, its a fine art and a lot of thought and concentration goes into it just the same as a human athlete,
So the Schutzund and training of Izzy and Goran is a bonus, I forget about the pigeons once i take her out and go to the club Our days in the Summer are long from 4.30 - 5O'Clock in the mornings until 11.30 at night that takes in the pigeons, house, Garden, Dog Training 7 days a week every week and still i have to leave the odd thing out,
But Its a great way to live you never have time to think of any problems other than the above, I love it but its getting harder as i get older specially with the pigeons the brain works that much slower now but i still think i am on top off my game with it. once i start to struggle and go backwards with them i know it will be time to call it a day, i will not finish 57 years in the sport struggling and a loser that will not happen, But a few more years yet i hope As for Izzy time will tell by the end of this year i will know for sure how we will go, and come next June her BH and ScH1 by end August - September. Note i was a bit qiuck on the dates. that is what i will be aiming for, but see how things go for the next few months, i may be disappointed but i think it will be okay

Goodness Steve do I have to kick you in the ....... there is going to be no disappointments, there is no backwards you tough old bird. I am not letting my arthritis hold this old lady back ( remember what breed I am training ) if I can do it so can you :)))))
Think positive, you do not want to be on the same trial field with me someday and have me show you up. You may have to buy me dinner. Have fun training :))) you have a wonderful Izzy.
Always,

Yes, if it does not work then you can kick me in the rear end,I have no doubts about the Pup not being good enough and not even myself but at the end of the day it is the training which will make or break the dog, However i do not think i am daft enough to pass up the chance i have
It will be a privilege to buy you dinner should we ever meet and who knows strange things do happen
