Flysoff works well. I use an all natural horse product called Rio Vista Coat-so-Soft, it repels flies, gnats, mosquitos, ticks, fleas....I love the stuff, and it smells much better than Flysoff, and gives your dog a lovely shine.

1 part pine sol, 15 parts water, mix and spray a fine mist. works great and leaves dogs smelling great. only pennies a year!

i have used this stuff for years, on horses, goats, dogs, poultry, ev en on me.  i've had it blow into my eyes and never stings, but it does a good job of keeping flies and mosquitoes away.  (oil based, not water based)  hubby has real delicate skin and even he is able to use it.

I am trying the DE  everywhere....the odoban I clean with keeps flies down at kennel  but where the rest of ground is can get smelly drawing flys...

DE is an absorbant and is used for so many things...I am learning all about it....Louse Penery convinced me...I found the slip of paper inside the DE bag that gave the instructions for feeding it.....wow   was I impressed....guess Louise is still kicking..

DE stops all odor everywhere.....so flies do not want to come there...Abby slept in her kennel where I put DE and she had it all over her this am....Flies do not get near it as no smell....Looks like I might like this  DE>...it says you can put it in the dog , on the dog and around the dog.....and in me too........wow   I AM IMPRESSED>

DIATOMACEOUS   EARTH   >>>>>FLY DETERANT..

YellowRose, can you provide a link to the DE information?  I'd be interested in it for several different reasons, although around here, flies aren't so bad.  My dogs are on grass, and I keep the poo picked up, and sprayed off with the hose...No bare ground (only the two dogs, anyway) except the driveway, and they don't use that.  Mosqitoes are our biggest bane here, and those little black flies that bite...

caution - there are 2 forms of DE, one for gardening and bug issues and a far less expensive DE used in pool filters.

do not use the pool DE, I've read that it can cause all types of issues........

basically DE is an extra tiny fossilized thing that has sharp edges. the sharp edge cut the bugs exoskeleton and cause it to dehydrate......and it dies.....

DE and peanut butter works great on roaches and ants......
