What was the original purpose of this forum? I thought is was for sharing of information and knowledge for the betterment of our breed? Please lets try to keep it that way. It appears that we can't get along with ideas about our canine interest. Do we really think displaying our political opinions on this GSD FORUM is logical? The ignorant remarks and 'putting down' of people's opinions is so childish. Can't we just keep all that ignorance to ourself. Let's keep this a GSD FORUM. Let's take our political views to politcal forums. I am sure we can find many people there to bash each other instead of here on the GSD FORUM. And yes, to the one's who will say, " Just don't view and read the OT and political post. " I say this, when 3 of 5 topics are off topic, I would say its very discouraging. What can we learn about the GSD from OT post?? The intended purpose of this forum is getting lost. Someone needs to take a stand and get order back.

Well, I really don't know what the point is in having a General Topics Section and a German Shepherd Section (and other Breed-Specific Forums). If someone feels that they cannot start a thread and/or post a Dog-related thread on their Specific Breed's Forum, and they feel that they must post their remarks to the General Section, then something is terribly wrong here. I was given the impression that the German Shepherd section was for the "Real, Serious, Professional" (and whatever adjectives you want to apply) German Shepherd people -- so what does that make everyone else who has a GSD -- some second-rate nobodies who just happen to own/breed/show/title but not on a Large Enough Scale?
Then it is the constant complaining/whining by a "certain/small group" who insist on Opening and Reading and Responding to the OT. So, in other words, the Complainers want the German Shepherd Section AND the General Topics Section for themselves and everything posted must be about dogs. If that is the case, then Oli just wasted a lot of time/money on a General Topics Section that is not needed.

The majority of the complainers voted in the current gov't. Are they complaining because of the political OT's or because it is against their political party?
Why are the complainers not on the GSD board discussing issues?? Starting new riveting dog related topics? Answering the questions of the new folks? Instead they are here whining about there being too many non related dog topics.  |

Red Sable - That is also my point. Why are the Complainers NOT POSTING to the German Shepherd section? I'm sure they MUST have SOMETHING of value to add on the GS Section --- then, again, maybe not. This is just insane. Also, since the Complainers are so against OT's, why don't they just ignore them and start a New Dog-Related Topic -- could it be that no one wants to read/post to their Topics? I'm just shaking my head .... I guess "they" want BOTH sections -- as if "they" actually pay for and own this Board. Oli should probably just drop the General Topics Section -- that way all the "little fish in the sea" can feel like they are BIG Fish again !! HA
NOTE: I could understand how some people would get angry if there was only ONE place that they could post about their dogs -- but since there are TWO sections and they are not being denied a place to post, then I can't understand it .... maybe it is because certain "old-timers" feel a sense of "entitlement" to the Board. |

| No matter how some of you rationalize the dispicable slamming and overrunning the board with OT threads, there is no getting away from the fact that Oli has stated the General Topics were for topics relating to all breeds OF DOGS. What is so hard to understand about that? We all know this forum has little to no moderation. So do you think that just because you CAN do something, you should, regardless of the owners intent? Why not go to a political forum if you want to discuss politics? Why blanket an international DOG forum with threads about American politics? This board was never intended to be a mouthpiece for right wing american politics, or politics of any kind. Numerous people have implored you guys to honor the purpose of this board, but you refuse. I guess you only care about what you can get away with, rather than what is fair or right. |

you will never understand.
general topics are for general things that apply to all dogs including mixed breeds. breed specific is just that its breed specific my gs did this or my collie did that. this board is not for politics. unless it has to do with a canine. oli does not say anything in his post about ot.
