OT - Be warned ... it's a GSD! (15 replies)
|
|
You know, since I think we can turn things around and say that "OT posts" on this particular part of the website are the ones about the dogs.
Here are some pictures from my girl's Sch I back in May. Just a few fun OB pictures. There is no real progression of the pictures, I figure anyone who does Schutzhund can tell at points she is in the progression. I really was proud of her, especially given how small she is but we have a lot of work ahead of us for the two.
Still, she looks like a real GSD with a dumbbell in her mouth!

Great Job!
She looks plenty big to me especially for a female.
Best of luck with your 2

Thank you!!
Truth is she is tiny, I don't think she's ever cracked 60lbs and though I never put a measuring tape to her, she's probably barely at bitch standard.
Still I adore her for the fire she brings out on the field (our Sch I was as much her drive and smarts making up for my inexperience...) and the gentleness she shows at home.
But unfortunately she's one of those small, ugly, straight backed working line dogs.

RLHAR,
Great post OT or not...:)
Really good photography for action shots.
Size?
She doesn't look small, she looks great.

Thank you, Moon!!! ;)
All joking aside, she is very small for a GSD. As I said above she's never cracked 60lbs ( her ideal weight is around 57lbs) and if she does meet minimium standard height it would be by the tallest hair on her withers only. If you look at her pedigree, her dam was small also.
But this is one of the -many, many!!- reasons she is spayed and my work partner not a breeding prospect.
Still people get on about oversized dogs are the 'pets' and how working line dogs (especially Czech bred) are these viscious monsters and I just glance over to where she's getting pwned by the cats in the house and putting up with my 5 year old son crawling all over her at meals times.
She's vicious I tell you, simply vicious.

My bitch Maddy seemed large when I first had her but now she seems small compared to my male.
She's the smallest of my two females but she rules the roost.
The weight of the heart makes up for the inches.
I don't worry to much about large or small as long has they have the heart. |

I agree.
My girl is a good family dog but also has enough drive and eagerness for the work that she has been a lovely introduction to the sport of Schutzhund for me. I couldn't have asked for a better first GSD.

lol
The way I think about it is less weight to throw over the jumps and less weight that lands on the other side
My boy is also small about 68-70 lbs depending on the season (Barret's motto is: Though he but little he is fierce)
I bet she's quick too

Nice pics, I've seen her and she is the right size for a female GSD. She's a great dog, good luck with her.

She is not small, she is normal.. my girl is 58lbs and is normal size for a female..... it is the perfect athletic in control of your body size girl.
I have a 65lb girl and to me she is large and our 73ishlb girl is enormous!!! |

Thank you everyone for the kind words about her and the encouragement to keep working her!
It's funny, she is the smallest dog at our club so I'm used to thinking of her as 'tiny' but then I see her up beside my parents labs or other dogs and suddenly she's the larger one.
I agree Schutzhund girl, I love her size because I don't have to be as concerned -you always want to be careful of course!!- with her own weight injuring her on the jump or the A-frame.

I have always liked the smaller females, they are just a blur when they run and hit the sleeve with alot of punch. It is all about physics. She looks really nice, keep up the good work.
Always,

| Another good argument to breed to the standard! I was sorry to see they had changed it to incorporate the larger animals. Bigger isn't always better and like you say, less poundage landing on the other side. She is perfect! Nothing wrong with your girl in the least! Keep up the good work. |
