Xena - protection training (bite jacket) video... (17 replies)
|
|
You might have seen this elsewhere, sorry for boring you if you have, but for those that haven't here it is..
Filmed this week, during personal proteciton training. Several bite styles, from frontal (including passive), to rear bites (tricep)...
Control is the name of the game, so in addition to the high flying bites, a quick and clean OUT is shown, as is the emergency stop and recall from running criminal/decoy..
Hope you like. I'm biased I know, but it's nice to see a German Shepherd with such speed and determination in the bitework. Who needs a Malinois, eh ?

Gary,
Thanks for posting that, I enjoyed it.
The dog moves so fast I couldn't tell, is it male or female?
How old is she/he?

Dan

Bancroft asked;
"Did you teach her to push into bite KNPV style"
Actually, yes.
I have a couple of friends that go out to Holland and train KNPV and on the few occasions that Xena has trained on a bite suit we have trained KNPV style. ie: up close with the decoy, dog and handler. Encouraging the dog, stroking her on the bite, pulling the lead slightly, whilst pushing the back of head forwards. Soothing voice and then slightly more excitable as the dog bites harder and fuller.
I didn't think anymore of it since, but it appears that it is working, if you've noticed it.

Gator113,
She's a bitch, and at the moment is 22 months old.
Glad you liked the video.

of course on that youtube video link are about a dozen or so other videos of Xena. Some bitework, some obedience, even some ladder climbing.
The username is K9protection. But you should easily find the link to the other videos through the link i've posted.

It was apparent on the tricep bite that she was taking the fight towards the helper with confidence, not pulling away into the bite sch style. Thought she must have had some pushing training. |

How is your dog bred?

I REALLY liked that video. Very nice dog. If you ever get tired of her I'd be happy to take her off your hands.
Is she in the database? Sure would like to see her pedigree. |

No you didn't Venzo, you have a long line to head to the back of. |

I think the line is 4pack first, me second. |

LOL on other boards apparently she is "claimed" by many. Gary would have no issues rehoming her. I very seriously doubt he gives rehoming her anymore thought than I do Baden. When they pry the leash out of my cold dead hand, I always say. |

In a couple of years time, I'll be looking at perhaps a litter from Xena...
With the right male, I'm hoping the puppies will be something special...
It'll be interesting to see the 'interest' in the pups... I mean, there's not many opportunities to see the Mother of your pups as much as people have seen Xena. (International star of stage and screen..hahaha lol )
If she passes down the bloodline that she's got and the drive and ability she's developed herself, the pups should be quite nice... |
