The new year is here. And we must strive to make 2009 a better year than 2008.

In that spirit, I’m offering my resolutions for the new year:

  • do a better job of helping out around the house
  • be tolerant of other people’s point of view
  • stop repeating myself
  • drive the speed limit at all times
  • not throw rocks at the neighbors’ dogs
  • give the new president a chance
  • stop repeating myself
  • stop making fun of liberals
  • be a role model for children
  • pay attention when others are talking
  • stop repeating myself
  • compliment others
  • sprout wings and fly

Off hand, I’d say they will all be equally fulfilled.

Happy New Years All,

RPK

Hey... Happy New Year Liz and everyone else!

I've got to get rid of some weight... it's a design fault, we can go to the moon, we can transplant various organs blah, blah, blah... why do I get fat?  Dieting is so bloody dreary!  I am feeling a wee bit delicate today... too much lemonade last night!

Move more, eat less......:)

That was from a Saturday Night Live parody about wieght loss plans.    It was a funny one.

I find it easy now a days to put on a few myself.    Its old age and less moving on my part.

And what I put in my mouth.

Diets are designed to make us miserable just so we will give up.  Its a conspiracy to force us on to the next product, pills.

Smaller amounts, more variety, and move more....:)

I need to cut back on my favorite Chocolate Chip cookies.   And stay out of Mc Donalds.

Best of luck !!

I'm trying to eat more whole foods and buy organic.

Walk at least 4 miles a day with my dog. Even if I have to get up at 5am to do it.

Get a real job, working for myself sucks with this economy and not having bennefits. The state is already late most months paying me, I'm still waiting for them to hand me an IOU.

Just make it through another year alive. Paying the bills on time would be a bonus.

I love my food too but some of this has got to go... I'm starting to wobble!

I thought I'd give up sarcasm. You have no idea how hard that is! I'm pretty much doomed to fail though. I'll have a better chance of success if I just go on a diet!

And Miss Beeb, such a wonderful fact, muscle does SOOO weigh more that fat, thank goodness for that.

Missbeeb - Im with you on the weight loss front.

Strangely enough I only seem to lose any weight if I do low carb or atkins style diets so as of tomorrow its bye bye pasta, bread and all the other yummy things oh and coffee!  Watch me got through withdrawl   Mind you in about 5 days I'll feel sooo much better and will have twice the energy so it will be worth it.

I'm hoping to take my Cardi Corgi to Crufts and seeing as that will involve dressing up nicer than I do for GSDs I guess its a good date to aim for.

As a family we have also set a resolution to only eat locally produced meat and veg and to try and grow as much veg and fruit as possible - two reasons 1 its so much nicer and 2 I know it hasnt been shipped thousands of miles.

Hi Liebe, Happy New Year!

The Atkins diet worked well for me when I tried it BUT... OMG, my breath????  I couldn't stand it.  I think the book mentioned it and said it was due to burning keytones... something like that.  The chemical warfare dept could have hired me... I can't go there again! LOL

Best of luck at Crufts with your Corgi.  Cardigans are the ones with tails right?  There's one (blue merle) near me, he's been deaf all his life, he's a lovely old chap... mine always have a "chat" with him.

4pack, you get to sleep in until 5:00????????  I'm half way to work by then.

I don't think the speed limit one would work for me.....  I have a lead foot, it's amazing how "sporty" a Dodge Grand Caravan can be.  LOL

Hey cut me some slack, I don't even commute and have to get up that early. I may as well live on a damn farm! I also had to extend my hours to keep some kids, some days I work from 5am-9pm. Sucks but you don't turn away work when you need to pay the bills and feed the animules. LOL Being strapped inside  the house, these stupid forums are my only link to the outside world most days. It's no secret why my ass expanded.

Missbeeb

I've never had a breath issue with Atkins - maybe it doesnt go that far for me - but within 7 days I'll have much more energy from not eating wheat based products.

Yes the Cardi's have tails, but remember that there is no docking now.  The Pembs tail is normally carried upwards like the spitz and the Cardi's are generally down and not so curly.  Have to say the Cardi is much nicer in temperment than the Pemb and is quite a clown by nature, sadly they are declining in numbers and over the last few years there have been less than 100 puppies born in the uk per year.

Karmen - I like your theory for weight loss, unfortunately I need to lose way more than the christmas spread - didnt get one this year - its more like a decade of spread!
