You can bring your dog to the sunday service at this church. I wonder if attendance will increase.

Thats different. I didn't read the link, but the point of worship should be to serve God, not to come just because we can bring out loyal pets. Still cool though.

laugh all you want.  i was raised catholic, and once a year we had a blessing of the pets service.  we would all bring our pets,  have a regular mass and the priest would bless our animals.  maybe if more people thought of thier animals as part of the family and not "just a pet" , shelters would be less full.  just something to think about.

Are they half full? Or half empty?

I'm sorry John,  No offense really.

It just doesn't wash for me...  Guess I'm damned for all eternity.

I can't be nice so I won't come back to this one.

Carry on.

The blessing of the beasts is a very old and frequently-practiced Catholic tradition, and I do not see why our dogs should be any different from the livestock, save for of course they are very special to us, moreso than the token cow or goat.  And, all of mine are family members, so why not?

I am not a religious man, but have been at mass services where my motorbike (along with many more) was blessed. And, you think it strange to bless the dogs? LOL

Best Regards,

Bob-O

"To each their own" as i was raised.  some shepherd owners work their dogs in schutzhund, some PSA, some ring sports, some herding, some etc.    to some they are pets, to others part of the family.  to some they are animals and treated as such, to others they are children and cared for as much.

"To each their own"

Ever heard of Saint Francis of Assissi?  He understood that the love of God was expressed in animals and viewed them as special blessings to mankind.  My GSDs have been a great blessing to me every day and I am thankful for them everyday.

Cool Preston.Would you give detailed information about St Francis of Assissi?I am not into the church thing..no matter what church.Been there done that. All too political now and such a separation and all too fashionable for me..That isn't what God is about. Before I get going..haha.I deeply express to anyone reading this thread. Please do not get into a bashing thing about different religions.I would greatly appreciate that.If this church does well with a new method.Good! Many churches have gone down the tube if someone wanted to bring a newness to the congregation..rock in music. etc etc etc.Collections were made initially..those that could give to keep that "Little Church " going. No one was judged that they couldnt give. The pastor/minister/father didnt have a paycheck and cared not to.They just wanted to get by in order to teach...from heart.Sacrifice in order to get the word out of positivity in a simple manner. The coins of collection went to the needy NOT just those in need in the congregation. The teaching was about reaching out like Jesus did.Going into places..Not worthy...Never turning a cheek//heads away to what was going on in that area at that time..Fearless.You will see many statues predomidantle plastic sold at stores of St francis. In order to have become a Saint..He endured much hardship to teach. How amazing is it that after all of these centuries..He is still around. If the woof church could only  step outside of the bounds as a pastor...to just teach about St Francis..That would be such a good thing. What a foresight he had...in the peace of nature and the blessings bestowed...if only to look and be replenished...But dive deeper within it.

Rainhaus, not all congregations are political or too fashionable.  The point of worship is to glorify God, and before eletronics and electricity worship done in a conservative mannor, to the exact pattern of God word, was always good, and worked.  The scriptures give no authorization in the new testament.....since the old was put away and is no longer in use....but for things like instrumental music, nothing concerning pets and as we know, pets can't worship, nor do they grasp the meaning of God or understand anything about worship.  People say the bible is outdated, but that isn't true, it will always be up to date, and even things such as laws of the land, and many other things in this world go back to biblical influences by God. People now want to add things to the scriptures, they do things in worship that are not in the scriptures or authorized by God....all scripture is written by men through the inspiration of God....but also,  Revelation 22, 18-19  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book  And also.....if you want I can get scriptures, but the collection by the church is only for saints in need. Not referring to non christians.....now with that in mind the congregation I attend will take aside collections...that are not part of the congregation collection or church treasury....those who want to can contribute for others who need money, or even business, ect ect. It is not anuthorized though to take money from the church treasury and give to those who are not christians in the Lord's church. Now I'm one who doesn't like to state points without scripture, so I can always get on here after worship tonight and post some.

Ninja181 .....sounds like a good idea to bring in money haha
