Who is going to the National Training Seminar hosted by the WDA and taught by Phil Hoelcher, Wallace Payne and Karoly Mezaros in Central NJ in November?

That sounds like a super seminar.

How many times in the US, can you go see that caliber of talent in one place? All of those guys are world class.

The website should be posted soon, I'll add the link when it's up.  Phil will be teaching protection, Wallace will be teaching tracking, and Karoly will be teaching obedience.  There is a payment of $100.00 for both days.  The first 30 entries can participate with a dog. The rest, can view as spectators. The $100. includes the cost of a reception on Sat. night and two box lunches during the seminar.

The dates are November 15th and 16th, and the location in NJ is TBD.

It should be an incredible seminar.

What's the point of bumping this up, if the information is STILL missing

Where?

Time/Schedule?

Area hotels?

Nearest airport? (Some might want to come from a distance)

WHO is hosting this?

Spectator fees?

Pat asked a legitimate question, based on the paucity of information provided and got a smart-assed answer.  She deserved better than that.

it wasn't a legitimate question, it was a smart-assed question (as per your wording).  three of the top competitors are going to be at the seminar, and the lunch is really going to make a difference?

i'm posting this on behalf of a friend.  the missing information has not been decided yet, so i was giving people a heads up (ie. the date) since the website is not up and running yet.  half of your questions have already been answered.

it will be in central NJ, exact location TBD

time and schedule have not been set yet, other than the dates of Nov 15th and 16th

the WDA is hosting this

all fees are $100, and the first 30 people can participate with their dogs

The WDA is hosting it? The NATIONAL organization is hosting this, but not a peep about it on the WDA website? Hmmmm "Central NJ" does NOT answer the question. Frankly, I don't know whether that means Garden City, Hoboken, Newark, Cherry Hill, West Kukamonga. Schedule? No, NOT given, as there is no indication of whether all 3 phases are each day; one day entirely devoted to one phase; etc. Apparently, you just don't know. Thanks for the "heads up," but this degree of public disorganization does not bode well. I'll pass.

I'd go. Moreover, I'd be one of the first 30 to enter so I can be IN it as soon as the entry info is available and I know the date doesn't conflict with my existing schedule for November. That's a hell of an attractive line-up at a super price, and a reception and box lunches included? I'm thinking deal of the century.

No matter where it is in NJ, Newark is the closest major airport... because its the ONLY major airport in NJ. LOL

Thanks for the airport info, Shelley. Just another bit of BASIC necessary info that had not been forthcoming. I had NO idea that there was only one airport in the whole state! WOW! Of course, New Jersey is a LOT closer to Pennsylvania and Ohio than it is to Wisconsin, Washington and California, so you "locals" don't require as much information to make your decisions. If told it was "Northern Oregon" or "Eastern Idaho" I'd have the same perspective on it that you do. :-)

Pat, you forgot "on a sesame seed bun"! :-) I would not be surprised if it were hosted by Rojas, or by James Honda, or both. Frankly it seems logical, certainly more so than the WDA itself hosting it. :-) I attended one of Wallace's seminars ans it was excellent and well worthwhile.

You would think that a national training seminar would be reflected on the organization's website. Hmmm I would also think that a "national" training seminar would be more than a two-day event. But, maybe the length of time is due to it being a pilot event, and the schedules of the instructors, especially given the time of year (going into "the holiday season"). A national or regional training seminar sounds like a grand idea, especially if it were to be a minimum week-long event, somewhere with great tracking and temperate weather and instructors who can really communicate.

Nah, there have been week-long training camps attended by "just us regular working folks"in the past. Phil was an instructor for them once, not that long ago. One of the Canadian clubs has held a "Work Week" every year for over 10 years, now. It takes the same planning as any other vacation. :-) Much like anyone attending any of the national events, either as a competitor, or as a spectator. :-) Are you planning to attend the World's?

I've gone to both weekend events and week long ones.  Like them both, depending on things like committment, finances at the time!   For me week long events can be harder if there is any travel time/expense involved.

Hats off to WDA for sponsering a training event.  Anyone know if any of the other organizations are planning anything similar?

Mystere,

If you would like a week long event, Phil Hoelcher has an excellent week long camp in  November.

http://www.k9-friends.com/CampWeed.pdf

He has had many guest instructors in the past but I'm not sure who else is going to be teaching there this year.
