What do you guys think about this dog: http://youtube.com/watch?v=BICKQtWRMis

Its not a picture perfect routine but there were parts of the routine i really liked.  I'm getting a puppy out of him in a month and was just wondering what some of you guys thought.

Thanks!

geez, i can't believe somebody didn't have something to say about this dog. :)  as i was watching the video, i felt i was watching a young dog that had not fully matured.  so i did a little search and discovered that he is indeed 3 yrs, not quite 4.  i have 2 tom leefdaalhof granddaughters and both of them are slow maturing dogs.  this is not a bad thing at all, just something one must keep in mind when making expectations.  dax must be among the youngest of the tom sons.  i think you will see some good things coming from this dog as he will just get better in the next 4 years.  i would not be hesitant to buy a pup out of him........depending upon the bitch, ofcourse.  i'm assuming you are importing from belgium.  i have found the belgian people to be very pleasant to do business with.  would this be the litter you are looking at?

best of luck to you.  should be a fine pup.

Yes that is the litter im getting a pup out of.  I have to say Gert has been very helpful and encouraging.  This is my first pup from overseas, so i had A LOT of questions.  He's been there to answer all of them.  Thanks ziegenfarm, for the reply.  What do you think about the pedigree of the pup?  You can PM me if you dont want to reply on the forum.

balance.  very well balanced pedigree.

coming thru the dam, you will find 3 very notable bitches; perle, randa and xandra.  also coming thru the dam you will find a considerable amount of sharpness from lewis and ernst, but it is well seasoned with fado, sirk and athos.

then thru the sire you find ruth; notable bitch.  sharpness coming from tim, but once again well balanced by orry, querry and tom.  i really like to see fado and orry together on a pedigree.  they work well together.

besides the tom granddaughters, i also have a sirk granddaughter.  of my 6 workingline dogs, every one of them carry fado blood.  every one of them is out of a belgian bred dam.  the sires are either german bred or belgian.

so, yes, i really like the pedigree.

wow, that was alot more info than i expected.  I thought i knew about pedigrees, but from what you just wrote, it sounds like its a science.  This is why i will proabaly never breed shepherds.  There are too many factors to consider and get right.  Although i admire the breed tremendously, i'd hate to do an injustice to it.  I really appreciate the info ziegen.  Do you think the line breeding on tom is benificial?  I've heard that line breeding 2-4 is too close for the health of the puppies, but others say its fine.  Regardless, i'm getting the pup in a 2 and a half weeks.
