I am hoping that someone will be able to help me.  I am in the military and am moving to Germany.  The problem is that I just got two Morkies and they are too young to have the rabies vaccination.  Which is one of the requirments.  I am worried that I will have to give up Coley and Jax...  Does anyone know the rules on importing puppys to germany without the vaccination?

The military should also be able to assist you with requirements. Look at this link below for requirements. Find your nearest USDA office and check also with the nearest German consulate or Embassy. It is not difficult, just a lot of hoops to jump through. Start now. Another option is to board the dogs until they are old enough to ship.

Just an idea. I know I wouldn't want to leave any of my pups behind, but...

How about you go over to Germany and getting things ready for your pup. I don't know what your m.o.s. is so I don't know how free you will be with your dog. But by the time everything is set up for your pup, maybe someone over here can get its rabbies shots done for you. I know it will cost a lot more to ship this way vs as a carry on. But heck, at least you will have everything set up, know the area a little bit more and the pup will have its shots. Everyone wins.

Which state do you reside in? You can call the nearest consulte or the German Embassy at (202) 298-4000. Puppies as young as 12 weeks and up can be vaccinated. I sold a puppy once to military personnel and they had to get that done because they lived on base. It was a requirement. There is also a titer test available, if you check out the above link.

I was curious too, tigermouse. I checked Wikipedia and apparently it's a cross between a Maltese and a Yorkshire Terrier, also called a Yorktese or Maltie.
