does his constant barking make you get up and let him out? if so,  the more you give in and let him out,  the more he is going to do this.  he knows he will get his way if he just keeps barking.  I'd move the crate to a room where you can barely hear him.  put a cover or towel over it,  sometimes if they can't see out,   they stop.

how long have you had him?  if he isn't used to being crated at night,  it may take him a week or longer till he shuts up.  Give him something like a knucklebone to chew on when you put him up. or a kong with goody (cheese wiz, peanut butter, ect. frozen)  stuffed inside works well too.

One thing that you have to remember is if you get up and correct the pup while he/she is in the crate barking/crying, that only enforces the behavior!  Close your bedroom door or the door to where the puppy is and don't talk to it at all!  The pup will soon figure out that it's not getting it anywhere to make all the noise it's making!  Ignore it and it will stop.  Only took my 4 a night or 2 and they love their crates now.  I leave the doors open during the day on them so that they know it's not a punishment to have to go in them.  They go in on their own now, lay down and take naps when we are at home.  It's kind of like a safe haven to them.  Put a favorite toy or a bone in there with the pup, or even a piece of your clothing that has your scent on it.  That will help tremendously.  Hope it helps.  Let us know how it's going.

just make sure that befor you go to bed let him out to do his buisness, this way you know for sure that he is not barking because he has to do his buisness.then just ignore him it might be tough for first little while but hang tough and you will succeed in this task.i am going to assume that you take him out every evening to a park and play with him and give him lot of excercise.because when the dog is tired he would normally just go to sleep. good luck and stay away from electricity and bark collers and all the pain inflicting things.
