Helps to define which dog you are talking about. Do you mean Blue Scipio?  If so the short answer is yes.

The pissy answer is that it is easily ( tho sometimes a bit tedious) to determine using the wonderful aspects of this website. It's now made easy by some of the changes Oli just made. You pull up a list of progeny for the target dog and now you can easily click on progeny for each dog listed to see if they produced anything. Repeat as needed until you get to a current generation. Any dogs that interest you take their name out to Google which will give youtest scores and/or kennel and location.  A quicker and dirty way and not as accurate is to pull up the progeny pictures and jump a generation to grandchilren - click on any picture that appeals etc etc. There is also the linebreeding link to click on and that will show dogs who carry linebreeding to the target dog even back as far as 5 generations. All useful ways of finding modern descendents of old favorites.

You may want to check out the kennel Vom Gelben Ruhl. He has multi generations of dogs that have V'd on both ends and his foundation breedings were on Blue and his siblings. Very interesting to look at the breedings he made over the years carefully mixing show and working; carefully linbreeding and going out - usually to another linebred line ( I do love looking at the "brews" and how they were constructed).  Some of his dogs now have Fero thru a breeding to Half but many of them I believe are still Fero free.

Now a question back to you if I may. Why the interest in Blue and why without Fero? ( I would have my own anwers to that just curious about yours).

Hi Vikram. Came across some info that might interest you. As I mentioned above the kennel Gelben Ruhl has used Blue and his relatives as the basis for their breeding. I keep an eye out for them in a pedigree because I find for the most part I like the type produced. Spotted some of their breeding in this bitch's pedigree so decided to take a look. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/progeny/85578.html   What I found was that two of her litters( the A and E) are linebred Blue without Fero. I think you may find the A litter most interesting. It seems to be a young kennel but I am impressed by their accomplishments. Here is a link to their website and the information on the A litter. If you click on a name it will bring up the individual dog's records. http://www.aus-der-kunstschlosserei.de/A_Wurf/uebersicht.htm  There is info on 6 or the 7 in the litter.  All six have a normal  hips . 3 have a normal elbows the  other three show no rating so I do not know if they had xrays taken or not. (edit note another db shows 2 of the 3 unrated as having NZ ratings on their elbows. Do not know how correct this info is) Three of the six are SG rated in conformation. All six are titled. One bitch has a Sch1 the rest are all Sch3(including the bitches) most with additional titles such as FH2  IPO etc. All zw's are between 70-72. The second generation from one of the bitches -Asta which is a cross to Fero lines has a ZW of 68 with half the  litter xrayed so far and all six are a normal hips and elbows. The linebreeding for the A litter is

I also think these dogs could be a wonderful resource for some of the working lines who are so inbred/linebred on Fero Mink Crok but it doesn't look like they are getting used despite their accomplishments.

Barbel's E litter is linebred Blue 4-5 but I have not check it out nor have I checked to see what either her or Diego's litter mates have produced. There might be more avenues to Blue w/o Fero if you check.   PS to SS if you are reading this Barbel also has Brix Kapwald as a grandsire.

Yes... all of that and more. I knew Blue. What a dog! To bad he wasn't used more in this country. He did have one very nice imported son I bred to when Blue was getting on in years named Irco vom Adamsgarten. Irko was the image of his daddy. I got a nice litter from a bitch who went to Wanko Maaraue and Seffe Busecker Schloss. Too bad nobody did anything with the pups. They were beautiful (the bitch was NOT) a little images of Blue in black and tan and sable.

Blue died at about 14 yrs., in his owner's lap. Gone but never forgotten. He lives on still, mostly through the progeny of N litter Heilgenbusch. Interesting: Nick's brother was very much like Blue in structure and markings. Very beautiful.
