I see them all the time on web sites. Do they actual work? I mean I see and play with me pups everyday and can tell who is more alpha and more ball driven and so fourth just by "reading" the dog. Are these test "really " worth thier weight?

Some say they test at 6 weeks and others at 8 weeks but what happens if the dog is having a bad day or a late bloomer then what?

And is it fair for the breeder to do the test? shouldn't another person who is not "kennel blind" test the puppies?

or are there people  that see them as a waste of time?

If you use this type of testing how correct has it been?

Thanks EK

well EK

I did those tests myself and had the litter tested by a stranger  on familiar ground and strange ground  .  I had my own opinions of the litter but really wanted to try out these set by the rule and  by point puppy evaluation tests    IMO they are not reliable  .

we both could test a litter   wait about an hour and test again and the results will vary .  I only did one litter and that was enough for me

Conclusion was   my pick pup scored not so good   the one I evaluated to be marginal did well  the litter evaluations where all over the place .

I stuck to my own because I spend  so much time with the pups in so many different situations .

Now these evalutated dogs are way into their adult age .(5 years ) The marginal one is still to date a marginal dog really nice family dog , really nice temperament but he has his shortcommings in strenght  my pick is a dual purpose PD dog . If I would have picked by the set temperament tests  and second guessed myself I would have made the wrong choice.

These test are not geared for the performance breeding program   the tests had been estaplished for the normal / average born  litter .

Shilo and many other  well known american breeders use them ( known to me later ) and frankly I  can or Shilo can not compare due to the differences in the goal of the individual   breeding program.

to me  the test I applied  is worthless for the performance breeding program  yet I can see some positive for the marginal /average litter  bred for companionship only

Puppy tests are just basically guidelines and it depends on the test itself Benarhard Flinks has a good one all you are checking is puppies genetic potential i mean if you know what you are looking for if the pyppy showes good prey drive and if you have experience to spot that then you know this puppy will pretty well kepp this drive because drive is a genetic factor not learned behaviour so i am sure you know what i am getting at.test depends on what is that you are looking for.

Benarhard Flinks has a good one

That would be one I would be interested in reading. I know Bernhard and his talents  but did not know about  his puppy evaluation test.  Where can I look it up ??

i do not know if it is posted any where,i have it on a dvd from one of his seminars.you can certainly contact him or check with Mr Ed Frawly, he might be able to help you or you can go on Bernard's web site and email him and ask him.that is all i can suggest.or perhapps if he gives a seminar near you that you can attend, would be another option.
