Bladder infection? (2 replies)
|
|
Our GSD is just about a week shy of 8 months and is 1.5 weeks in to her first heat cycle. The poor wee thing is asking to go out to urinate way more often than normal. Notice she is able to ask to go out and makes it. She is also sleeping through the night despite having a clear signal to request an outing if required. Once outside urination is normal initially however she will squat a second and sometimes third or forth time but only a drop or 2 will be produced.
The standard tests show nothing out of the ordinary .... bacteria tests have yet to return from the lab. Appetite is not affected at all!! Energy level is harder to gage as she has been a little different since a couple days before the heat started. She is definitely down a notch or 2. She has had 2 minor bladder infections, both before 4 months (both treated with Clavamox BID). Is there any chance her extra squatting is a normal (or at least not abnormal) heat cycle??
Any advice from those more experienced is appreciated.

Many females will do this....often it is natural behavior...the more "scent" they lay down, the more likely they would be to attract a mate, and it is often also a form of "marking" their territory, which many will do more frequently when in heat. Getting her checked for an infection wouldn't hurt, but I would guess all is fine. |
