I,m looking for opinions, How do you like to see the Out preformed? I want my dogs to stay on the sleeve until I tell them out . So many times I see the dogs automatic out during trials just as the helper locks up whether there call to out or not or the infumous electric collar out. just curious of opinions

As long as it takes 3 commands or less I'm happy...

I like them to stay on the sleeve, biting hard, until told to out.  Then I want them to release cleanly.  Personally I don't mind if they release a bit slowly.  Don't care for the automatic outs.

I like my dogs to hang on til told to out also and ideally when told to do so on the first try, but it usually takes 2 or 3 times.  Less if my husband is handling the dogs, guess his voice speaks more towards "authority"?? lol

I don't care for the automatic outs either; looks too "rehearsed" like they're already programmed to know what to do without having to say anything because they've done it over and over so many times that they know what comes next.  I also like to see a clean out.

The Dog must grip until told to 'Out 'or over here LOS' and then it must be the first time, Fortunatly my Fred is excellent at this so i hope he contiues that way, one command and he releases every time

I like the automatic out- the reason is for trial scores. If the dogs auto outs his driive will come down and should be better in the secondary OB. The dog is controling his drive better (in my view).

That being said I am training my new dog this way. My older dog has to hear the command and being 100# plus is hard on the helper when he freezes- tugging on the sleeve. If the helper were smaller and weaker on trial day the dog could try to prevent the helper from doing a good freeze up and then result in more out commands and less points.

First out for me every time, a second command and points are lost, three times and  its By By

A command is a command and it does not mean it has to be said more than once

Plus whist talking about the out , after the Dog has Outted or LOS,

They try and teach it not to bark once Out ,

but to just guard the Pakwerker , they like a Dog to guard silently and not even take his focus off the Pakwerker even if the handler is walking to the side of the Dog from some way away, not an easy thing to do

The One Dog i have seen do this consistenly every time is Zasko v Prielberg of Rinus Bastiaansen

Zasko's eyes never leave the worker for half a second his eyes fixed on him no matter what is going on around him and in total silence

Its great to watch him work, lets hope his Son follows his Daddy
