No insult. Thank you for the links. These two videos prove that entertainment doesn't require injury, maiming, or death of livestock.
Reading my pages, and following the links to SHARK, I hope it's obvious that government is becoming involved in animal abuse. Right now, the focus seems to be on rodeo. Within the last few weeks, Cheyenne, WY has been drenched in newspaper articles, news broadcasts, etc. (see SHARK website for links, newspaper articles, news broadcasts, and details)
My belief is that momentum - largely due to BIG organizations - (PETA, for example) - will move to ban ..... obviously, BSL, as foolish as it is, is already LAW in many places, and proposed law in many, many other places. I think if you look past the moment, and consider what the future holds, rodeo is only the beginning.
If a state government (Illinois, possibly others) can actually pass laws prohibiting the use of electricity at rodeos, the writing is on the wall. It may be months, years - or it may be days - and eventually, people who have nothing to do with rodeo may feel the repercussions.
I didn't write this ONLY about rodeo. I can see that abuse and cruelty (whether real or imagined) simply add fuel to the fire.
As dog people, all of us know that electric collars, prong collars, or any form of "force" has been loudly criticized - consider my point: the criticism eventually winds up on a government desk. As it piles up, something has to happen. As we've seen, pitbulls (and similar) have literally been outlawed in many places. Bills have been written (I don't know how often they have actually passed) to outlaw shock collars. What's next? What impact will it have on dog owners?
