My dogs, even my little girl, can EASILY escape from a kennel you would buy from almost any pet store. While at training this is not a good idea.

Do you know of/own any heavy duty kennels that didn't burn up your wallet? I'm thinking it might just be better to get a nice aluminum one and never have to buy one again. Atleast not for a long time.

Thanks, Emily.

Re-usable zip ties work nicely for my escape artist.

My kennels are 10X10 aluminum with a lock ready closer.   I've never had one get it open,  now digging is another story all together as mine are on the ground, no concrete.   They were $220.00 at a builders supply company and built well, much better than others I looked at.   Don't have a brand name at this moment,  I'll look up the reciept if you wanted to PM me.

I bought mine at Tractor supply.  They are the heavy duty AKC kennels and they are not chain link.  They are excellent and none of my dogs could ever manage to get out of them.  They are not to expensive either.  We have indoor kennels so the kennel comes with 5 -5X6 sections and 1 door section also 5 '.  I made doors out of the regular sections, because we have walls between each kennel.  The also look very good.

These are nice kennels and not to expensive. I have the Silver series and never have I had a dog get out unless I let them out.

MYGSDREBEL, you're asking about crates....not kennels, right?

Zip ties and some two sided snaps at the doors make just about any common brand crate very secure. Now if your escape artist chews through steel...then I dunno!

Good luck.

I have Mud River crate covers, and they do an excellent job of making sure the dogs cannot get out. They have several vent areas that allow air flow, yet when the front panal is zipped, the dog cannot get out, even if they could undo the door latches (and I have one who does). They keep the dogs warm in winter, dry, and in summer keep them shady and cool.
