Hi Lin
The photo's above are super. So sorry that you won't be taking the photo's at this years 2 day show. this is one of the most important shows in the UK for GSD exhibitors and I believe that people will be very disappointed not to have YOU taking the photo's of their dogs and I don't mean just because you do this FREE OF CHARGE I mean because people rate you as one of the best photographer we have in this breed in the UK. |

The Two Day National Show in Scotland have included in their schedules a printed peice of paper with the heading:
CAMERAS & VIDEO CAMERAS
placing ridiculous restrictions on the use of both at this Show. I am quite frankly appalled by this. Rhoda and I will now assess whether we should support such a show, I doubt it. |

Well done to all winners and participants, it was a great show with a lovely atmosphere and even the sun shone for us. Thank you from the committe for your lovely comments. We as a committee work on the principle that we want to give back to the exhibitors what they give to us in support. We do not look to make a profit but just to break even and in doing so we are able to provide top class rosettes, excellent trophies as well as champagne etc for honour winners, and it's lovely to know that it is appreciated, which makes it all worthwhile. After all, we shouldn't be in this to make money. There is no point at all,in my opionion, of clubs having large sums of money sitting in the bank whilst they skimp and save at shows on what they give back to the exhibitors.
I am also deeply saddened to hear that Lin (www.fardogartfoto.com) will not be allowed to take pics ringside at the 2 day show, even if not the official photographer. She really is an asset to the breed as a first class photographer and particularly as she offers her foto services free of charge to clubs and exhibitors alike. She is providing a 'unique' service to the breed so let's hope the GSD Club of Scotland are sensible about this rule and extend their permission to Lin, who after all is only doing what the exhibitors want her to do. And that is to provide excellent photographs of the dogs.

What a ridiculous rule, what if there are foreign visitors wanting to take photo's of the lovely British dogs to take home and share, people who have been asked to write articles and provide photo's like myself, for an American magazine, looks like we wont be coming either now. |

A rule couched in spite! Without any thought whatsoever for the exhibitors. Well we exhibitors don't have to have any thought whatsoever for the 2 day show in Scotland, whilst it is hosted by the GSD Club of Scotland, or while this rule exists?

I am sorry for using this thread for venting my serious concerns about the two day show in Scotland.
I can't help feeling that The SOUTH OF SCOTLAND GSD CLUB appear to be an IDEAL CLUB for hosting the two day show. Perhaps this matter can be discussed by the Two Day Show Host Clubs, and the GSD Breed Council. If the host Clubs claim there is no forum for such a discussion, then we,the exhibitors may have to express our strength of feelings with our entries, or should I say "without our entries".

The rule to stop people taking photos of their own dogs is silly, but perhaps GSD Club of Scotland want to stop photos being taken for commercial gain? Correct me if I am wrong, but the photos taken seemingly for free by Fardogart will eventually end up in a Year Book type of publication which will be forsale in competition with similar publications produced by GSDL and the Breed Council. The books author will profit from this venture.
If this is the reason for the ban, then perhaps its not as silly as it first seems?

so why should the club gain by using photos that fardogart has taken and given for free tot he clubs and to the owners and breeders of the dogs, its unethical to think they will ride lins back and make money out of all her hard work i for one would not stand for it, all should boycott this show to let them know our feelings |
