I had a woman come to see my little sable male, Ansel, with cash in hand, wanting that "cute little puppy". She had seen his picture at my place of employment, where I have 'brag' pictures liberally posted about. Now, I need to know if anyone has ever heard questions like these....? "Is he going to get much bigger?"(This is a 7 week old GSD pup) "Will his ears stay like that?" (no) "How could I make them stay like that? Would bending them help?" (OK-- by now I'm desperately wishing my phone would ring, so I could excuse myself) "Is he goning to stay like that?" (points to his undescended testicles) "...'Cause that would save on neutering him." Needless to say, she did not leave with the puppy, but she did advise me that, being I had never done this before, I should seriously consider trying harder to have what my customers really want, because, "the customer is always right!" AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH! I really think I'm going to be keeping quite a few puppies! Also, someone stopped my daughter-in-law on the street when she was walking Wolf, to say,"If that dog ever has puppies. I want one!" So, of course, she told the lady that, in fact, there were some puppies available soon. The lady was ecstatic! Then Yvonne told her about the contract, the stipulations, and finally the price, which is very reasonable, and the 'lady' went off on her. "When someone offers to do you a favor by taking a damn puppy, you don't tell them it's gonna cost them money!" What--did she think they were free? Yikes...my opinion of John Q Public just sank a couple more notches.....jackie harris |
