A one day tracking clinic is being held on May 18th in Fort Valley, VA
by trainer Kirby Hill. (approximately 1 1/2 hours from Capital Beltway)
Kirby is a former National level Schutzhund competitor, professional
dog trainer and breeder with almost 30 years experience working with
sport (Schutzhund, & AKC), search and rescue, personal protection and
police K9 dogs. He and his wife Clare own and operate the Creature
Comfort Inn, a state of the art boarding and training facility located
in Strasburg, VA. The Hill's, along with their packed client list of
referred customers from all over the region also boast current
national level United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA) competitors,
several active FEMA certified K9 search teams and numerous club and
regional level handlers as training clients for both handler
instruction and boarding training for sport/working dogs. Their immaculate
facility has been used to host seminars by such notable sport trainers
as Ivan Balabanov.
Kirby's tracking resume includes the following highlights:
- 8 time USA National level competitor 3x placing in the top 10, 2x top 20.
- 9 time USA regional level competitor, once Sch2 champion, once Sch3 champion and
2x Sch3 vice-champion.
- 6 perfect 100 point tracking scores earned with 3 different HOT dogs at
both local and National levels.
- 2 FH titles (both Vs) earned with 2 different HOT dogs.
- Numerous students have also earned perfect and high V tracking scores as well AKC TD and
TDX.
The clinic is suitable for beginner level to advanced tracking
dogs/handlers and will cover the full spectrum of tracking subjects to
include:
- scenting theory (related specifically to sport tracking)
- track laying
- proper sport tracking form for the dog
- proper line handling and behavior for the handler
- utilizing terrain and ground cover to prese |
