Hello everyone.
I have a very novice question to ask.
What is the typical height/weight of a 6 month old male GSD?
When do they typically stop growing in height?
Would anyone be able to post a picture of there young males with a listed age as well as height and weight............
I am curious as to how my boy is measuring up. I'm missing the cord to my camera and cannot upload photo's to my computer yet.....so unfortinately I cannot show you recent pictures of my boy.
He is 6.5 months old 70lbs and 26" at the withers.

I think that you are going to have a very big boy! |

If you are worrying about him not being big enough, you can stop worrying.I agree with Rezkat5. |

Actually I was worried about him being too big,
My spayed female is a whopping 57lbs, but she is extremely fast and active- which I like.
He is very active but not nearly as high energy as my girl.
Im hoping he stops growing or at least slows down.
I would like to get a show rating on him in the future and have plans to take him to the local ScH club if he is cut out for it.
This will not be possible is he is a monsterous beast of a shepherd. |

According to that chart he is the size of a 10 month old male.
Can anyone attest to the accuracy of this chart, its it fairly reliable? |

The information posted on the linked site, in all areas, is very accurate. As with any information, specific animals will fall outside of the averages. However, the introduction on the linked page gives the breed standard ranges also.
Vonissk, lots of good stuff there! |

I hope that he slows down or stops too, as he's already 66 cm. standard is 60 to 65 cm. And I think they allow a cm either way. |

Wow, my male is 5 and 1/2 months old and weighs 40 lbs, not sure about the height, but your boy is huge compared to mine. Maybe yours won't get too big. |

I HOPE he is pretty much maxed out.
I really wanted him to be an all around utilitarian dog competing in all possible venues.
I spent 3 years waiting for the perfect GSD, and he IS perfect.......just enormous. He is everything I could ask for, except his size. Not that it is too important, he will never be bred-ever. Its very unfortinate though.
He makes my 3 year old female look like a puppy!
I have been feeding him Orijen puppy since I got him, could this have something to do with it or is this all genetic? His sire is considered a medium sized male.......
How much does size effect working ability?
