Anyone use leather choke collars? (7 replies)
|
|
I have always used the Fursavers, but decided I'd try a leather slip collar this time. My fursaver on my one dog finally broke after using it for about 10 yrs. on my first GSD, and one year on my second. I wonder why they're so expensive. I mean, a horse bridle has a lot more leather, and you can get one for around $20. Not a super quality one, but one that will last a long time. The leather chokes I've looked at online were all $30-40 for a GSD size. I finally found one (after looking for hours) for $20, and its an inch wide. So I ordered it. Anyone else use them? |

I bought a cloth choker, second one I have ever owned, and it broke after 2 months! The first one I had lasted me a good while. However, after this recent one broke, I went back to the choke chain. |

Anything other than a chain collar, imo, will not release as quickly or properly. Use a chain or dead ring it. |

Where can you get a 20 dollar bridle? leather and slip just doesn't work in my mind... I've never seen one. You have a link, I am curious. |

There are headstalls for $16.99 in a couple of my local tack stores right now, so leather bridles do not have to be expensive. I ordered the leather choke from Monsterdog.com. Great - I had no idea it would not release properly. A waste of money. I KNEW I should have gotten a chain! |
