Curly Coat (4 replies)
|
|
Hello,
I was visiting a kennel last week and 2 pups had a wirey and curly coat. The brreder said that it is a fault that comes out of there lines once every 6-10 litters and maybe only one pup has this.
Has anyone else know what this is called or why?
Thanks |

I have seen it in some lines. Once had a very nice female from Kirschental lines that had a coat that was wiry and wavy.
She was a great dog, however. I never held it against her. She lived for 14 years. |

What was the name of the Kirschental dog? |

I believe the curly or 'wire' coats come from this dog, VA Erich vom Grafenwerth, and are actually called an 'Erich' coat. Someone more knowledgable than I was discussing this in a previous thread several months ago....jh

I've had some with this wiry type of coat, I've even seen a longcoat with it, looked like a big wire wool pad. The ones I got were from Cito v Konigsbruch and recently I had one from a working and showline mix. You never know what is lurking there in the background waiting for the opportunity to surface.
