German Shepherd dog

 I do not post often but feel I must address a recent add "Zamp grandpuppies for sale."  This is an ad from India.  I could be from anywhere, however.  If you look at the ad you see the bitch and some puppies lying in a filthy home-made whelping box of plywood lined with what appears to be burlap.  The area around the whelping box is dirty.  If this is what we see, imagine what we do not see.  I know people do use wood as whelping boxes (I do not), but at least keep it clean and line it with something comfortable to lie on.  I am meticulous about the cleanliness of my whelping area, and it disgusts me to see this poor bitch lying in this dirty, uncomfortable box.  The only reason I can think of that a person would actually buy one of these puppies is to save it from such a horrid life.  By the way, I also have Zamp offspring and feel possessive of his good name.  As a small breeder pictures like that are what make it extra difficult to sell a puppy to someone I do not personally know.  

Please, if you are going to breed puppies, clean up your act for all of us out here who are trying to show the public that we are not puppy mills.  If you cannot do that, then at least do not post pictures.

 If you cannot afford to provide a clean, comfortable whelping area that is capable of being disinfected then you cannot even begin to afford to care for a little of pups.  Plywood is a very porous surface that cannot be disinfected.  Painted surfaces such as those surrounding the picture I refer to can be cleaned with ordinary soap and water.  Bedding can be easily cleaned or replaced daily, if one cares to.  

I don't think I need to paint a picture of a dirty whelping box.  The picture presented in the ad is very representative of a dirty whelping box.  

 I assume that since he has posted on this site that he also reads the posts and hence no need to contact him directly. When you put yourself in the public domain you should expect a public response.  Also, when visiting his website one quickly notices the picture of the gentleman speaking on a cellular phone while standing in front of a Hummer.  This would tend to argue against the inference that he cannot afford to maintain a healthy environment for his dogs.  Lets face it.  These dogs are a commodity only for some people and the fewer dollars they spend caring for their dogs equates more profit.  I do not believe they deserve to be coddled.  When their vehicle is cleaner than their kennels it shows their true motivation.

I am happy to read that you share my concern about the dog's accommodations.  Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's affliction.
