I have seen this ad and a couple more just like it.   All I can say is a fool and his money......

The other ad the guy was getting on his jet saying good bye to the wife and her fur coat standing next to the limo.

For that much money a year I would hire out to you has a body guard myself!

Look at the sold dogs below.  Some of his customers are people like Shaquille O'neal.  I think Shaq has a 60,000 sq ft house in Fla.  $65,000 to a person like Shaq is a typical NBA fine for not dressing appropriately.

Ivan has a malinois that is probably better trained for less than half that price and he has clients like Barry Bonds too.

Honestly, how can explain $65,000 for a well trained dog that will last around 8+ years if you are lucky?

I think that we forget that there is a market for these salesmen.  There are people out there that can afford to be ignorant.  These people have multiple cars that cost more than these dogs and they only have them for a few years until the next model comes out.  Some of these people have cars that just sit in the garage and cost 5-10 times this amount.

Hell a nice set of cherry cabinets for your house will cost this much.

People have boats that are used 3 months out of the year for 5 times this amount.

I don't think that this type of person lives in the same neighborhood as a meth head.  I see more of the gated-community types buying these dogs.

Nothing better than free enterprise and good salesmanship.       More power to them

Yeah there are some filthy rich people out there and I dont give a crap how much they spend,  I just dont think we should bail them out for being foolish as we are now talking about doing.

Gated communities are only as good as the security guard at the gate and most of them are low payed night watchmen.

I think I would be more worried about nieghborhood watch if I were the thief.    I would be more worried about theft if I only had something worth stealing..LOL  thank god I'm poor.

Well, you do here of people spending more than that on a SchH III VA-1 "Sieger" - World Champion which really can't do too much for you at all except produce sperm so, why not? If you have that much money to burn then enjoy yourself and your toys, I would. :-b

No trainer/breeder is ever gonna sell a world champion to this guy! He puts those prices up there so that when Shaq or Steven Segal sees $250,000 they think a $65,000 dog is a good deal !!

Reminds me of the player for the Indians years back, Manny Ramirez.  He had one of the teams "gopher" guys, wash his car during a game, so that it was nice and ready after the game.  The team "gopher" guy found a paper bag in the glove box and took it to Rameriz and told him, "Sir, I found this bag of money in your glove box:.  According to the newspaper report, Manny replied "Oh, yea, 17 grand.  I forgot about it".

There are people with money.

Ted Turner gave one BILLION  dollars to the UN as was reported on TV.

60, 000 is nothing for 7 years or so of some comfort.   Just buy another later.

It all boils down to credibility. The breeder of my 2 dogs imported dogs for Steven Segal and I know for a fact she got the dogs at a very fair and equitible price. One dog in particular was hand-picked per the characteristics that Mr. Segal had specifically requested. Of course if one can get $65,000 for a dog more power to them. After all in the immortal words of W.C. Fields, " There is a sucker born every minute".

How many trainers would you have tostaff to train that many dogs to level of "ESTATE PROTECTION".  No video must be a super secret training methods.

Seriously though, where do these jokers get the dogs from...? Anyone on this forum....?

I should have thought the folks from Europe would have clued up by now to realise that the dog they sold to that genuine sounding agent has now ended up with a 10x marked up price as dumb-ass/celebrity fodder. If that be the case they might start wising up and charging these agents much more money. Or maybe that has already happened and there are a few happy people in Europe selling their dogs at a sweet deal. Or maybe not cos' of course these websites don't provide pedigree info. and who is to say the images are not heavily photoshoped making the dogs hard to identify....

Check this out too for a laugh too -

i would have to guess the people selling these dogs to "brokers" are more than happy with the money they are getting for what they consider a hobby.  cant you hear them talking right now.

her  "honey you go out and get those dogs a schutzhund title so we can sell them for a few thousand euro"

him "but i have to work all day, and you want me to come home and work dogs"

her " if we get good enough at it, you wont have to work at the factory all day,  we can sell dogs"

dont think for a minute that the dog business is any different in any other country  than it is here in the U.S.

to a majority of the world, dogs are dogs, and money is money.

i will get off my soapbox now,

john

A person in my club actually bought a GSD from here.  Spent about 20K.  The dog is a very nice confirmation dog, black and red with nice structure.  I have worked the dog several times in bitework and he works well.  He is definately not equipment orientated and keyed on the man.  He bites full with a medium hard grip.  He is probably everything the owner wanted or expected.  My opinion, not hard enough in the bite work for my liking, not enough spark or drive in obedience, but nice for a conformation dog.  I would never pay anywhere near that much for that dog.  But I like working line GSD's and he doesn't compare to my Dante x Anita male.  He is however a very nice dog with a very nice temperment and the owner thinks he is the greatest.  He is not what I would want for a police K-9 or PPD, but again the owner doesn't understand what a truly hard tough dog is and couldn't handle one.  They have the money to spend and the dog has a great home.

There is another individual who spent 45k on a malinois.  Some of our K-9 guys offered to work the dog at one of our trainings, but the guy wasn't interested in bringing his dog out.  We just wanted to see a 45k malinois.

I once witnessed a German owner turn down $500K cash for a dog that just went V-A that day. His reasoning? "I am never going to live long enough to have another dog like this one."  Makes sense to me. The buyers were from Japan, and the man clearly loved his dog, as did the dog his owner.

Yes, Dearies, there are still a few things moeny can't buy.

How do you know that the $65,000 dog wont do what it is trained for?  I don't think that its fair to libel someone who you have never met, don't know anything about, and whose only frame of info is having surfed their site for 5 minutes.

Hi Agar, I wouldn't sell either of my dogs for any amount,  but many would.  Everything is relative and every hobby has people paying big money for their hobby.  I know of people that have spent that much and more on Japanese Koi, (a big goldfish basically).  I have family members that have spent more on their German Warmblood horses for dressage.  Spending that money to them is a good investment or worthwhile for their sport, hobby or peace of mind.   It's their money who am I to judge.

Like I said the GSD I worked is a nice dog, to make a comparision; the owner spending 20k on the dog is probably comparable to an average person spending 2k, from a strictly economic point of view.

Jim-  I'm glad someone feels the same way I do about their dogs.  I too could not put a price tag on mine either.  Although I think it's totally assinine to spend 65 grand on a dog regardless if you're filthy stinkin rich or not; who am I to knock someone from having the clientle willing and able to pay the price???  But on the other hand it comes down to economics as you pointed out....an NBA player, movie star or even a smaller version of Bill Gates spends 50 grand like I'd spend a couple thousand without blinking an eye or hurting his bank account.  But even so, you can get a real nice dog and send it to a top trainer for custom training, all your bells and whistles and you're still no where near that amount of cash.  The final product is still gonna be the same is what my point is so why not keep the extra 50 grand and go buy yourself a new sports car??    But to each their own I guess.
