Just a question, where is the rest of the world??? (32 replies)
|
|
| I am new to this board. And perhaps this is totally inappropriate. I have been seeing the airing of dirty laundry from the UK. I have seen so many postings from the USA. An occassional modest posting from SA. Old discussion in India. But, where are the rest of you? Who said this had to be an English speaking only board? If you, in your mother tongue wish to say something, why don't you enliven this arena to be what it could be? Just a thought. Perhaps some will also take more pride in the countries they represent and skip the inappropriate language, the personal assaults. . . when they realize they represent more than just their microcosm. Where is Germany? The country of our breed's origin? Where is Africa? Where is Asia? Where is Australia? Where is South America? Come and participate so that this is not only an Anglo platform but an international one that may challenge us all! |

| HI, Sunshine
LOL
I have been thinking just what is going on, is this just a USA site now?
But, When you under a good dog comments there here
but talking about what? good dogs. |
|
|
|
|
| Lathan, First of all thank you for responding to my question. And secondly, it is not only about our good dogs. . . but about making them better because they are probably the most wide-spread breed in the world. And thirdly, why does not Germany participate on this board, which is the country where our breed originates? So many breeders, so many fine trainers. . . Where are they? Just a very humble question. |
|
|
|
|
| Who said it was an Amarican site ?? Think! :) |
|
|
|
|
| Yes, the german breeders and trainers are here too.
But 1.we don't use the internet to get contact with other breeders (the distance are not so far in germany, we can meet us)
and 2. we have to work outside with our dogs.
I'm sure, the most people, who is each day answering and posting here don't work with the dogs, they like him, of course, but perhaps, there will be a different.
Please be friendly in reponding. (Hope my english is not to bad for this messageboard.
Greetings from germany!! |

| I would have thought almost everyone on this site would have realised why the majority of German breeders will not make a comment on this site.
There is a mindless minority who thrive on making totally unfair personal attacks on anyone who is well known in our breed, or who has any success in our breed. What is worse is that they do it anonymously. While this is allowed to continue this site will never attract comments from many of the successful GSD breeders and exhibitors. This clearly means we all lose the benefit of their knowledge and experience. I very much doubt if this situation will ever change, indeed I think many people are moving away from the message board, and enjoying the rest of this excellent site, and who can blame them.
What could be an informative, constructive, educational, exchange of views on this message board is without doubt being seriously damaged by the mindless minority.

| We have people from all over the world here. I for one am from Bosnia. There are some great pople here and we can learn a lot from them. However, there is also a minority which realy does not deserve a comment.
For me this site has been a great asset and nothing can spoil that.

| I am from Norway, and use this site often. Just to be updated on whats going on in the gs world. But there is a few people thrashing this site, with stupid comments on persons. We all love the gs dog, and we all have different opinions on the dogs. But personal attacks should be keept away from the site. The discussions shouldn`t. |

| Hi, this board is used by people all over the world, alot of German breeders read it. We just don't participate in discussions that really don't influence us, we're much closer and meet almost every week or phone, we don't need the net for it. If anybody has a valid question, someone from Germany will almost always respond. Greetings from Germany Bea |

| Well said Solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I totally agree.

| Solo is right. There was a time when there was good participation from knowledgeable breeders from Germany and other european countries that knew the dogs, bred the dogs, and watched the dogs grow, mature and produce. They could respond first hand to questions on what particular dogs produced, how they looked at breed surveys, etc. They provided insight as no others could.
They are driven from the board now. Probably tired of the stupid posts and bantering about nothing from someone that knows nothing. There was always a post from someone that read a book or heard a rumor and decided they knew more and had to write an opinion contrary to what the rest of the world knew was correct. I think the majority of the knowledgeable people just got tired and went away.
If and when this board can put some quality back in the posts, Maybe some will return. They're probably sitting on the sidelines but reluctant to comment and participate in the discussions. |

| Thanks, my question has been answered. Hope the board does not loose Dog1 and Solo too! To the other responders who were not offended by my question, I hope to get to know you as time passes. Angela, your English is perfect and I am glad you wrote. Greetings from the USA! |

|
| I think Dog1 is right.
There's to much bashing and taking about B S going on.
I remember when I first joined this site you could come and read interesting post about the dogs. Now all you see is dogs fights.

| Hi,
I am a romanian breeder and I keep contact behind 2 years with this board, but is for the first time when I decided to get in;I'm living in France from april , I've got some contacts with local breeders and I was surprised to see that french breeders prefer direct contact (or by phone )and I've got no reactions by I-net;changing experience by mail supose to have a lot of time at disposal and I supose, like Angela has written, the most of traditional breeders from the countries with old tradition dont have this time;personal oppinion and sorry for disturbing, is the functionality of the GSD search : I've searched a male , I didn't fint it directly, but I find hm looking into the progeny list of his father !For this question , if somebody had an explication, I'll be glad to know it; for all of you, a very good day! bye |

Sunshine,
As you can see there really are people from all over the world here. Some you wouldn't even suspect because they can be anonymous and have the ability to blend in. I think if you want to aquire better knowledge then ask better questions.
As far as the bs, bashing, and tom foolery your not gonna change that. And if you did no one would participate because they would fall asleep from boredom. Lighten up sunshine and try to enjoy the experience. You'll still learn something.
Greetings from the dark side of the Moon.

Sunshine,
This site makes the world a smaller place by bringing so many together. I'm in the U.S. but through this site I have bought two bitches from Germany. Without this site I would never have had the chance to own those two wonderful dogs. |

Meistertoss, Most search engines such as the one on this board work best with less information rather than more. Thus if the dog's name is listed as V MyHotDog vom Haus Ketchup SchHIII the search most likely to turn him up is MyHotDog Ketchup. If you searched MyHotDog vom Haus Ketchup but the database indexed him as V MyHotDog vom Haus Ketchup SchHIII he will not show up because it expects the V to be the first part of the name. The reverse can be true also. It all depends on the particular database is indexed AND with what consistency. So in searching use less of the name and the search engine will usually find it. |
