Does it look right? I know my girl is a rescue. We took her in about 6 to 7 yrs. ago to put her down. She looked deathly ill.

The vet told us she was just not fed at all. I did 2 yrs. to search her pedigree & found this. She is our beloved baby is all.

I was also wondering about the 1st  2 Generations on her pedigree. Is anyone here familar with them? I do know where Kip came from, But Rommel, I am at a loss?

P.S.

DM, if you see this? This is still my favorite picture. :)

You did a fine job.  Her pedigree looks like you took enough time on it also.  Lucky girl when you found her.

Yvette, I'm glad you were able to save her.  She looks like a healthy dog now.

Yvette

By the way, I'm just waiting for the day that someone confuses our posts.  I post under my handle SchHBabe but I'm sure that eventually someone will get confused since "Yvette" is not a common name in America.  Ha!

How did you manage to find out what her pedigree was, Yvette? Was she tatooed?

No tatoos. This was an ex-neighbors dog. They moved & was going to drop her off on the highway. Another nieghbor is a vet tech. her office happened to be the vet for the breeder. She gave me his information. From there I called & talked to him & he gave me the names & registration number for the sire & dam. He wouldn't tell me anything else. Someone on another board told me of a web site canine family tree.com that traces pedigrees & send beautful copies. I tried other sites to find more info on the sire & Dam, thier sires & dams & came out with nothing. I heard the others in the Pedigree where great dogs.

Beautiful girl. I apreciate the fantastic work of love you did with her. Check out gsddata.com they have a lot of info on pedigrees etc.

Thank you again for rescuing her. Since you have her sire and dam's AKC numbers you can order a certified pedigree from AKC ( I think these days if you pay extra it will include titles etc). There are also paid pedigree search services out there that generally will give you more information than the AKC pedigree will ( colors of dogs - that kind of thing) but its been eyars since I've used one so don't have a reputable name to give you. Like all things - there are good ones and bad ones. I would look for someone who specializes in GSD because to do it right they need to own the old studbooks etc from a lot of different countries. Finally have you used the OFA database (offa.org)? You need to search very broadly (ex 1 piece of the name vs the whole name but you can limit it to just GSDs) and often names are mispelled and information is missing. I use it as a backup resource but have found dogs there that I couldn't find anyplace else. It looks however that you have already done a bang up job. You may not be able to find out much else - hers is not an atypical pet GSD pedigree. This does not mean that she is any less than the great dog she has been for your family, it just means that most likely her breeders were not terribly educated about GSDs. Thanks again for saving her. Now go - have some fun - try something new with her - maybe Rally just to get your feet wet.

Beautiful dog, too bad there's no one willing to track people like this down that leave their dogs to fend for themselves. Thankfully she found you!

Hi Yvette,  What exactly are you looking for in terms of information? Did you try TIG's suggestions and order the certified AKC pedigree and check out the OFA database?

Actually if you did some simply searches in google you will find the following  information. Re  VON SITZ VON DER HOSE  dogs there are a number of them listed in this database including an article about one in the article search http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/picturegallery/6228.html.  Perhaps you can pose a question to the board re contact info for the kennel owner and he/she can tell you who owned Cita which should give you a line on Rommel. There are 8 VON SITZ VON DER HOSE listed in OFA including Cita who is indicated as being gray with good hips and elbows

Cent vom Jarrow showed up as a sire of another dog entered in obedience at  the GSDC fo Western Massachusetts. There is the listing

473 SER DUNCAN OF RIVERKREST, CD, AX, AXJ, DL535524/02. 05/17/1994 Breeder(s): Denise L. Woike By: Cent Vom Jarrow x Carousel’s Carbon Copy Owner(s): Lori Jayne Eliot (Dog)  You might try to look up the owner and breeder and they may be able to tell you who owned Cent.

Cent was also in the OFA database ( go to advance search search jarrow as any part of the name, click on GSD for breed click on search). Xrayed Fair at 45 months in 1994 reported in 1996.

Here is the link to Vom Jarrow GSds in Broad Brook CT  http://community-2.webtv.net/Vonjarrow/VonJarrowShepherds/  and their email address vonjarrow@msn.com

Just out of curiousity - is this you and your girl with a different name or do you also have a litter sister? http://www.dogomania.pl/galeria/980143094.html
