I am curious to know how much a dog would be penalized for coming off the sleeve because it hit it too fast. If it was obviously committed to the bite, and just came in too fast, then attacked again as soon as it was able, would it cost the dog much in the way of points?

Sunsilver
not dog should be penalized but rather those, who established rules and criteria of IPO to distinguish most perfect from their point of view "working" dogs.
last my dog back in 1994, was disqualified when we challenged third level of schutzhund.

The last vid presented, it looked like to me the dog lacked both drives and nerves doesnt matter if the dog is not being used to being yelled at or not..
unless the dog thought he heard an out command from the handler then i would not judge the dog as hard

The video of Debby's obedience was lovely! She seems like a very happy worker and there is clearly a bond between her and the handler! Love the praise the handler gives her in between requirements!!!!! I would be curious if she was trained with any compulsion methods or reduced compulsion as she had a different look about her work than I am use to seeing....Very, very cool to watch!

nope, dog not lacking the drive or scared. if he was so, he would run away or do circles around handler.
after all, he did to this level of competition.
it more looks like dog was confused and lost.

Smiley
can you provide the link to video?

Gustav, yeap and that's the price to pay for staged up performance.
that's why IPO dogs not really fits to anything other than sport.
dogs, able to do real work, wouldn't pass even to local/regional level.
