I told you Rck all you had to do months ago was to do the "right thing" and you assured me you would if you got the records. If the shoe were on the other foot I most certainly would reimburse someone for an animal that was sold and 6 months later had issues I knew or did not know. After all they would have been my problem if I had not sold the dog.
Plain and simple but in this world of today THERE IS NO INTEGRITY.

Just spoke to the now owner/ trainer of your former dog- the mobile unit was an ultrasound unit not for hip xrays.- more misinformation He sent you, as you asked, all the records weeks ago. The dog was classifed "moderately dysplastic".
He wll resend the files again on Monday as he is out of town.
Just do the "right thing". You could have put this to rest months ago.

"Rick Schair is HIGHLY respected in The German Shepherd Community. His care and love for the breed are above and beyond approach. Rick is an outstanding trainer and breeder. Rick is considered an expert and his integrity is well known among top breeders and trainers. "

Your statement is ironic since during my dealings for this dog he knew very little and referred all to "Regi".
I guess we just had a bad day but you could have fooled me.

I know Rick and he is a respected breeder and trainer. I have trained with him on multiple occasions. I would not hesitate to purchase a dog from him.

This is nonsense. My husband and I have purchased two dogs from Mr. Schair. He is very well respected and has wonderful dogs. He is very honest and very caring. He goes the extra mile to be helpful and after two and a half years, he continues to help and guide us concerning our beautiful girl (another Gipsy pup). This is why we felt 100% confident buying another pup from him (also a Gipsy puppy). Our girls are healthy, well-socialized, very trainable, and have far exceeded our expectations. I would never hesitate to purchase from Mr. Schair and have recommended him to friends and family. Mr. Schair competes internationally and has an excellent reputation.

Rick is a friend of mine and i must say i hold him in high respect.
He is very honest and and straight forward. I would not hesitate in buying a dog from him, as i believe him to be a serious breeder with great love and care for our breed.
He and Regi are some of the nicest people i have come across in the dogworld.

So there are 3 out of 4 people here who have vouched for the sellers integrity. Interesting though, 2 only joined PDB yesterday- why is that- and the 3rd has never once posted in 4 years. All appears a little sinister.

The facts are this dog had serious preexisting conditions. No one is asking to return the animal or for a refund of the purchase price- just to pay the vet bills to correct his conditions which are a fraction of the purchase price. If the seller had kept the dog it would have been his problem and expense.

This is not even my dog now. It is about principles and integrity.

Why all the vitriol?
People reading this thread, please consider these facts:

-- Rick Schair and Regi Deal are top-notch people, genuine and of the *HIGHEST* integrity.

-- I know both of them personally and train with Rick regularly. Always productive and doing what's good for the dogs!

--Their dogs are treated like royalty: Big, modern, clean kennels, great diet, the best of training, complete medical care and documentation for their dogs.

-- Regi is the puppy/young dog trainer and is the best at care, feeding and foundational training that produces world-class dogs. Their puppies live in the house as members of the family.

-- Rick, as a fierce international competitor, knows what it takes to produce champions and is more than willing to help mentor those who would aspire to achieve those heights as a dog-handler team.

-- As such, they bring the best to the pedigree community.

No one is going to pay vet bills on a dog they sold unless it's more straightforward. Most contracts state replacement but never vet bills because that water is just too muddy. Good luck finding 2 vets who even agree on exactly what a particular "problem" dog needs. Thus, an ethical breeder or seller will replace the dog or perhaps work out another arrangement, but paying vet bills would be highly unusual. In this case, if it were my dog, I'd have a vasectomy done on the remaining testicle and simply remove the retained one. Any hernia or other issue, if needing repair, could be done at that time, but should not cost a fortune. A friend of mine had this very thing done on her dog using my vet because hers wanted in excess of $1000. My vet charged $280. This is why no seller can agree to pay vet bills- simply too many variables.

I'm happy the dog is in a great home now and that they are happy with the dog.

Because, kuanti, it is far from unknown that 'iffy' breeders or trainers will muster their contacts to say nice things about them, to ward off the effects of a complaint.

Not saying that happened here / this time; but please everyone note that we - the regular general audience for PDB - will most probably believe regular posters' reviews, over those put on by new people we never heard of before.
