Really odd...never looked blue to me, but I can't tell you what it is, either. I'd really like to see the parents. Looks nothing like any sable GSD I have ever seen at that age, either. Ootyvijay, are you 100% POSITIVE no other male got to that female? Pattern is almost more Mal-like in terms of masking on face and legs.

Ootivijay, can you please tell us WHY you made your initial statement that it looked as though this pup has eight generations of only Black & Tans behind the breeding ? Do you have some piece of paper, a hand-written pedigree chart perhaps, with colours listed ? Or were you just guessing, based on not much ?

'Course, this (just like the concurrent thred re a "New GSD, pedigree questions") is a perfect example of why all GSD breeders should do things 'by the book' according to the SV system, including the use of DNA tests for IDENTIFICATION OF INDIVIDUAL DOGS. Makes it so much easier when you KNOW which dog(s) are supposed to be involved, to trace unexpected events and whether e.g. another sire has been substituted.

OP implied it was a singleton.

("The result of the single pup is the something different colour.")

Dam is described as "black and gold" in the pedigree. Sire is "red black."

I guess dam could be sable?

TY. Still looks like a (darker) Blue puppy, to me. Would still have helped to have it on a white blanket or something. I take it, Ootyvijay, you are confirming this pup was the only one born ?

The pedigree as photographed does not in itself confirm "8 generations" of black & gold dogs; have you got any more information than that as to colours of ancestors ? If putting a sheet of paper on a photo to post on a website, it does help to have it up there long enough to actually READ it ...(I'm going to see what I can see on a screenshot).
