So, what's it's going to be for the GSD forum............... by Rik on 28 July 2009 - 07:20 |
| You people need to decide. Oli is forced to split this board into two parts, essently because of a very few posters. Uber, and the incredibly stupid sow, SunSilver, and the very ignoranf, young, unable to understand and learn, xeph. So I ask you, who cover the world. Do you want to hear from kennels such as Silbersee (V rated GSD, Show Line, W/L in Germany and U.S.) crhuertra, top breeder/exhibitor working lines/showline U.S. /Germany . Dennis Johnson. top working line breeder/trainer in the U.S. Molly Graf. top working line breeder/trainer irn the U.S. Dogs1, incredible knowledge of pedigree. Top importer of V rated dogs to the U.S. who no longer post here because of constant harassement from the aforementioned sow "SunSilver" So, I ask, what do you wish this GSD Forum to be. A source of info from very knowelegable kennels, very willing to share thier knoweledge, or a theatre for such fools as SunSilver, Uber, Xeph to continusly display theitr complete stupidity. If you people want to hear from these top GSD people in the U.S. then I promise to try to entise them back to this GSD Forum to share their knowledge with all of us. If not, then remain silent. As for me, I can contact each of these excellent sources and recieve a reply. So you decide what you want this GSD forum to be, that OLI create for you. As for Rik, I wish to come here and discuss only the GSD. I wish to hear hear from top breeders/exhibitors/traininers. crhuerta/dogs1/Silbersee/Dennis Jonhson (sorry can't recall your kennel name) Molly Graf (also sorry, cant spell your kennel name) So, it is time for you to decide. Do you want this to be a GSD forum, to discuss the GSD, in every aspect the GSD is. Or do you wish this to be nothing. I am talking to every one of you in the world who reads this. Let the sow SunSilver, the very stupid Uber, and the very young and unable to learn xeph take their never ending stupidity to the General Forum and leave this to people who love the GSD, in whatever form it comes in. | I would love to have some knowledgeable information, as I hope others would. Debbie |

| Me, too. Someone suggested that every single time an OT thread is started, we each and all click the "Report as abusive" button. Every time. Hopefully Oli will see that there are enough people who want the board to stay ON topic and that we all know where there are political and other boards where we can have training, breeding, etc. discussions. SitasMom has said on the board that she posts those threads because she must "educate" us. |

Personally, I check this board everyday. I don't post often, but when I have a question or two I'm happy to say that more than a few of you respond and help me out. I've never gotten bad advice here. I do think that the OT posts should not be here, after all it is the for the GSD . I think it would not benefit us to lose all the professionals. |
by andria1r on 28 July 2009 - 14:34 |
| I also don't post very often but the threads i do read which are relavent to me at the time is very useful to me in helping me learn. Andria |

| I'd like t see the more knowledgeable people come back also. I hated like hell when they ran Hodie off/ The general topic board has just been ruined by all that political BS and I am sick sick sick of it. If I wanted to read all that there are plenty of other places to do so. Keep it about the dogs people because that's what we are here for--our common thread............. |
by Vikram on 28 July 2009 - 16:06 |
| you must be dreaming this site is no more a dog site least of all a GSD site. The hits on the site come due to all the trash talk and the drama played out and Mr. Oli is laughing his way to the bank;-) while you are writing pleading emails to him to stop the "theatre" (Wink Wink) cheers |
by TessJ10 on 28 July 2009 - 16:33 |
| I disagree. Lots of dog people don't come here any more because it's difficult to find the ON topic threads - you have to search beyond all the OT threads that are started - MULTIPLE threads started every day by a small handful of people. Look at the threads - it's the same half dozen posters. SM usually starts a thread with multiple posts, thereby keeping it pushed to the top. This board's been going a while before all the political garbage by a few disgruntled Americans came in. Why shouldn't it come back if the OT stuff goes away? |
by Vikram on 28 July 2009 - 16:36 |
| You tell me!!! if OLI or whoever the ghost who manages this site really gave a fuck about honest dedicated people. There would be immediate stop to all this drama. But the fact is the more the trash the more people want to come and read and get entertained from their boring lives. cheers |
by Vikram on 28 July 2009 - 16:51 |
| its like amazon.com. Amazon no more makes money selling books they make more money selling the store management software. Similarly the trash on this site the major revenue generator while GSD topics can go to hell ;) cheers |
by SitasMom on 28 July 2009 - 16:57 |
| keep all actuall gsd related post on the gsd side....... the rest can go to general topic its very easy.........just follow the rules that were set up. gsd - gsd stuff general - general stuff |
by Rik on 28 July 2009 - 17:00 |
| Here is my point. As Vikram says, there is no monitoring here. And probably the owner is very interested in income. However, this is still the largest and potentially informative GSD board in the world (that I know of) So what if Oli makes money, he still provides this service. So, if these same stupid people persist to spoil this board. O.K. I persist to call them stupid. At least Oli split the board so there is a forum, very clearly labled "German Shepherd". Rik |
by TessJ10 on 28 July 2009 - 17:06 |
| "its very easy.........just follow the rules that were set up. gsd - gsd stuff general - general stuff" NO. The rules were General DOG RELATED stuff on the General Forum. GSD stuff on the GSD forum. YOU are the one not following the rules. |

| [agrees with Vikram] The experienced posters on the site get sick of all the drama. Sometimes they are attacked by the trolls and less experienced posters, which is what drove Hodie away. Louise came back to help me out when my bitch was bleeding internally following a botched spay, and commented she didn't bother with the board much because there were very few informative threads. Here's what she said: Sunsilver: Too bad Louise and Hodie aren't around anymore. While I can't speak for Hodie, I will admit that I rarely post on this or any other forum. During the past 6-12 months, the PDB has become somewhat of a "soap opera"--JMHO. When it comes posting on boards, I'm a "meat and potato" person--I thrive on something of substance. If I want to communicate with a poster, I've grown to do so via PM, private email, or telephone call. The inexperienced people who come here to learn often get attacked by the experienced posters. Witness a thread on the general forum today. A lady posted a thread, asking for help rehabilitating a 5 year old GSD. Immediately someone jumped on her and accused her of being a sock puppet for another poster! Nice way to attract new posters to the site....NOT!! The only way to fix this, IMO, is for Oli to grow a pair, and appoint moderators who can stop all the crap. And OT posts not relevant to dogs should either not be allowed, or put in a separate forum! Just my 2 cent's worth.... Edit: Here's the way people tend to treat newcomers here, which results in them leaving the forum, along with other experienced GSD people who can't stand this sort of rudeness:

| I'm new to posting here but I don't get all the drama....OK, so I've figured out a few people and just ignore their posts, big deal. I don't mind the off-topic threads (don't read them, but don't care if they exist). It seems there's a bigger issue of people posting GSD stuff in the General forum than an issue with having general threads. If I don't care I don't read it. Of all the boards I read this one is definitely the "slowest" but there's some good stuff and some smart people. |
by CrysBuck25 on 28 July 2009 - 20:47 |
| Liesjers, There's been a change on the board... Apparently this GSD forum, which is now divided into two forums, is like this: GSD side, is for only those very experience clique of people who feel secure in their personal knowledge of the breed and want to talk to only those who are experienced as they are, and not be bothered by newbies or anyone who does not fit their criteria. General Topic: this is for all dog related stuff posted by those who are not considered to be experts by the experts. Anyone considered to be a BYB for whatever reason, those of us who only have a rescue GSD, those who have American lines GSD, and so forth. I've grown tired of the drama on this forum. So what if you don't like an OT thread? Don't read it, that's all. Clicking the abuse button on everything that you don't think belongs here is somewhat childish in nature, and is a waste of Oli's time. The nasty remarks about "Oli and the money he makes off this site, so why should he care?" was just plain mean spirited. Oli has a life outside this board, and the abuse button needs to be used only when there's actually something to complain about, like palerider's filthy language, and pornographic postings..That's abuse, not a political thread, or a post about a kennel that someone here thinks can do no wrong. If you don't like the political threads, ignore them. They'll go away, or they won't. But if you don't click on them, or respond to them, then you're not stirring the pot. And as for responding on threads asking for help, if you have nothing constructive to say, maybe you shouldn't respond to them either. No one needs your nasty remarks...Such as the poster who responded to Horsephoto's thread...saying that her dog wasn't a purebred and should be spayed...I don't know many rescues that let you have an unaltered dog, so that comment was outright rude and ill thought out. How do you know the dog's not a purebred? Have you personally run a DNA test to be sure? Just my two cent's worth, but I'm asking that some of you learn to be a little less nasty. Crys |

| I've been a member of this board for 6 years now. and before I took a hiatus and changed my screenname, I was a member for another 4 years. thats 10 years of me visiting this board. I have rarely attacked someone, and try my best to not be rude. I have not been a part of some of the hateful threads that ran people like Hodie off the board. RIK, you have been a member for 1 year, you have taken it upon your self to be rude, mean and hateful to quite a few members. its types like you who have ran a good deal of knowledgeable people off this board. You say I think I am an expert on many subjects, I have denied this repeatedly. I don't know everything. all I can do is relay my experiences and what I have gathered from books and more experienced breeders. But you sir, have repeated posted topics and comments which seem to imply you think you are an expert and only your opinion is right. If Oli and the rest of the board seem it fit to ban me and a few others, so be it. |

| Rik: I don,t know where you are from nor do I care but it seems that ever since you popped up on this board you have a high opinion of your self and you get testy when you feel some one isn,t playing by your rules or disagrees with your opinion. Instead of throwing down insults and demanding your way or the highway why don,t you set down and chill out for a moment. There are very good conversations going on here, lots of info passing and yes lots of off topic stuff that can be amuzing to many if it,s not excersise your rights and don,t read it. My brother be still, life is to short for all this excitment over nothing. |
by CrysBuck25 on 28 July 2009 - 21:23 |
| And by the way, Louise is still here. She posts when someone needs her help, and is always here to answer a question from a fellow dog lover. She may not post here on this side much anymore, but that's likely because the new experts have proven to her that they do not need her assistance. Myself, I am glad to know that she is still here. Crys |

| Rik, Just taking a stab at it here, but I'm guessing you don't get out a lot. You may be getting a little too "E"- excited man. And, if these persons upset you that much, you could always start your own site....... Just a thought. Then you could ban your "E" enemies. I do however agree that some of the threads I have read have become quite harsh to some pretty basic questions from people asking for help. Best Regards, |
