| I say a fair. Last dog I had done was the same age, excellent positioning and hips were way deeper seated then these and I only got a good. |

| Why would the left be good or better? |
by Blitzen on 18 July 2012 - 20:21 |
| Because the dog is not perfectly symetrical. If it were, the left hip would be a little deeper, the right a little less deep. OFA is hard to second guess, but I think the OP can rest easy thinking this dog has normal hips for breed and age. The ratings are subjective. |

i would say borderline to fair. |

| For a 3 year old male I think they look pretty good; possibly fair due to the one hip probably his left hip our right side of the screen. BOL Nan |

| Both the hip joints are good reasons- there is slight rotation which makes one joint look a bit loose but the joint is flawless, look at the cartilage on the femoral head and acetabular fossa both clean and clear at 3 years could not be better than this, look at the norberg angle which is very good( very nicely seated ball in socket),look at the dorsal acetabular margin it is not shallow, slight flattening of head is at the fovea centralis region which is normal, have a look at the superior and inferior acetabular margins very clean again,no evidence of osteophytes a very good sign for this age.I guess these are a very good Hips. |

| I'm guessing Fair, I agree with Sitasmom |
by Jenni78 on 20 July 2012 - 02:38 |
| No, the "flattening" SM and CMills think they're seeing is due to rotation differences. Look at the knees if you have doubts. Hips are great! |

| Good |

| Um, NO, Sitasmom. The hips WERE GRADED GOOD just as a bunch of us said they would be. They're no longer up for discussion. It's done. |

| In my experience, my dogs' actual evaluations have always come back two grades better than what people say on here, lol. My last dog had people insisting "borderline" and came back A-1 even with an x-ray that could have been better. |
