Ok I still have this lingering question.....maybe it's me but why wasn't any of the airlines contacted PRIOR to any of this even taking place. I find it hard to believe that "all of a sudden" there were embargo's on Delta the day you decided to ship this dog.
I agree with the post that if someone bids a job (for a lack of a better way to say this) and they underbid it, too bad. Ive actually done this and had to eat the health cert/crate etc because I didnt have the buyer send the right funds.
Idk maybe things have changed and people do things differently these days. I get that we all need to pay our expenses when we do this but....Im 4 hours from LA. The last time I drove down and back, it didnt cost me $350.00

One other exsrense that petair charges the buyer is the exchange from USD to Czech currency, over one hundred US dollars. Who drives hundreds of miles to an airport without prior reservations AND without a confirmation call to the airline BEFORE you load up the dogs? Last year the story was Franfurt was no longer shipping dogs so they had to be shipped from Prague, payment could ONLY be made through Western Union to Petr.. But at the eleventh hour, a reprieve on Frankfurt embargo! And wasn't it lucky for shipper that the cost from Frankfurt was three hundred dollars less. Unfortunately, all the expenses for fuel, health certificate, crate, currency exchange added up to that amount. Somehow those charges weren't mentioned to the buyer when the dogs were to be shipped from Prague. At least the dogs weren't dropped of at the airport at left without appropriate funds. They arrived safely. So I guess overpay is the safe way!

Rene with Gradylin is great to work with. No fuss or attitude, and very friendly. I had contacted Pet Air prior to Gradylin and when I received the quote they sent I questioned it. 3100 EUR was alittle expensive in my view for nothing more than to meet the current owner at the ticket counter in Frankfurt, put the dog in a crate, turn it over to the cargo personal. And then I pick it up in Detroit. Their answer, thats the way it is. I wrote another email explaining in detail just what I needed and the next quote was 920 EUR.... Bottom line, I'll never use them for anything.

You know what assume means. Unfortunately your believes are not based on the facts. But I assure you that is exactly what happened. I was getting dogs in the same time this was happening. My was one of the 6 shipments. Peter is my personal friend and he would never take advantage of me. However even I had to pay extra and I had to drive to LAX from Phoenix (800 miles round trip) . Originally I have had arrangements done to Phoenix, but after Delta changed on dime and put embargo on 767(? plane to ship animals) I had to go to LA and pay more for the shipping. That is just how sometimes the cookie crumbles. Take it and pay more or leave it. I assure you, that everything happened exactly the way Peter described. People who are trying to find something wrong with what Peter have done, hell or high water will be always present on this and other forums and we all know who they are.
Also to say that raising price because the cost went up must be eaten by the contractor is silly. Contractor has always right to ask to raise a price and you have always right to refuse and cancel the agreement if you do not see the reason for it. There may be contracts ( usually gov) which hold the contractor to certain price, but this is not such contract. 5 people, including me, have seen the reasons as reasonable and paid more to get the dog and one did not. So be it. To call innocent people names and be accusatory of nefarious intentions is uncalled for. If you want to fight it over with someone who is truly guilty than direct your indignation at Delta and not at Peter who was doing his best to help.
