| any siblings around by chance? |
by duke1965 on 27 May 2012 - 05:52 |
| I will surely try , but the selling of outstanding dogs in general is a problem I think the dealers only think of profit today, and we will see what tomorrow will bring |
by duke1965 on 27 May 2012 - 05:55 |

| I thought Lubeck was i Holland Duke |

| No Lubeck is now living in Canada. As a matter of fact he lives about 1.5 km from my place. Nice dog with lots of drive. His entries are great. That being said I'm sure herby has a plan for his future breedings. I don't know herby personally but his reputation as being very selective goes way back to the days when his Bouviers were amongst the best. |

| would AI be something worth considering here? Or is shipping the frozen stuff as expensive as flying the dog over? |
by Gusmanda on 29 May 2012 - 16:06 |
| sorry to stray off-topic here, just wanted to ask: KNPV is used as a filter by dutch police, but not as the actual training, correct? |
by duke1965 on 29 May 2012 - 17:03 |
| KNPV is a program , and certified dogs are bought by the police and others, after the police buys them they keep training , if that is what you are asking abbout AI , most policeunits dont allow their dogs to breed |
by Gusmanda on 29 May 2012 - 17:37 |
| thanks Duke, that does clarify my questions. Too bad police units don't allow breeding, it would help improve the products they buy long term, and bring them some extra cash for their units as well. |
by duke1965 on 29 May 2012 - 17:59 |
| in my line of thinking some dogs that are in K9 units that are healthy and exeptional at their work could and should be used for breeding, but they dont see it that way |

| In the UK most large forces have their own breeding programs i.e. the Metrolpolitan Police (London) pioneered artificial insemmination programme in the early 1980's, and have still have the largest selection of stored semen of their best K9's going back thirty years. My own force, has a permanently employed "breeder" we've given him a house including 2 breeding areas, puppy areas, set in 100 acres and 2 vans with access to 50 kennels and 20 staff. He sources dogs from the UK and abroad, does all the breedings, then we sell the spare pups to other forces, keep bitches back or if not needed advertise them internally to our 4500 officers. He's also responsible for re-homing the retired K9's (handler gets the final say though), we have 160 dogs in total. We're only allowed to do this because we set forward a business case for income regeneration over 10yrs. I appreciate the little departments in the US should stay well away from this or work in conjunction with many other forces. Ronin |

| Ronin, that would be a good job for me , where can I sign LOL |
by Gusmanda on 31 May 2012 - 21:23 |
| Hey Ronin, I was searching in my memory, and I don't recall having seen any police dogs while living over there (I lived in Islington for some time), are they mostly used in the suburbs? Or do they only show up for specific situations? Mind you, I prevented going out when there was manifestations or riots, so I suppose that would have been a probable situation under which they would have been visible. |

| I was reading some of the PH1 rules, do they still need to swim the 15 meters and retrieve? Or am I reading outdated rules? |
by dantes on 03 July 2012 - 18:27 |
| The dogs in the UK are out 24/7, but mostly mobile. Very, very useful at night to find people, or anytime to control the crowds. You'd not have seen them walking the street in Islington often, but I was a cop there in the mid to late 90s and they were certainly about! |
