Raw Green Tripe by Eve2012 on 07 May 2012 - 16:34 |
With all the scary dog food recalls, I am thinking of taking my shepherd back to raw green tripe which she has had before. Thoughts anyone?

It's great, as long as you can stand the smell of using it. Buying it frozen can help.

Just green tripe?

No, when I have used it it has always been as an addition to kibble or raw mince, so I can't advise you on trying to use it as a sole diet or just with supplements etc. I've heard some people use it on its own - maybe someone else will post on that ?

Me too as an addition, my question was more to the OP. I've never heard of people using it alone though.

No, I would feed it in addition to Orijen. I think that is the kibble that I want to switch to, even though it is very pricey. So the tripe, gullets and trachea, etc. will help supplement that. Thoughts?

I feed Orijen(80/20 ratios) and Acana(60/40 ratios) in addition to raw (Natures Variety, Stella and Chewys, or Oma's Pride). I feed my raw in the morning, and my kibble at night. You should be fine, sounds like a good combo to me :)

I feed trip and Orijen to our husky right now and he does great on it. have slowly startred introducing more meat/bones and weaning down the Orijen though.
