how will i know if my puppy will have a long coat?

my friend has a litter of GSD im going to be taking home one of the puppies and i was looking at this georgous male named Leo. i was just wondering if you could tell if he is a long coat. both parent dogs are short coats but they have produced long coat puppies in prevous liters. the puppeis turned 5 weeks on satrday may 5.

hard to tell but could be a long coat my girl looked like leo when she was younger she is now 17 weeks here she is now

thats a good looking dog :)... at what age can you tell for sure what type of coat a puppy will have?? when did you know for sure your girl was a long coat?? do you have any pictures of her when she was younger?

hi its hard to tell really i got my girl at 9weeks they grow so fast and asked around vet told me she was a long haired GSD im just looking forward to seeing all the changes in her over the coming months ere are a few more pics of my little girl
