To Yoshy. A Boerboel is a Mastiff which is on the list although many other breeds as others have stated are missing. In my opinion these test are inadequate because these test are mostly conducted on the dog with their trainers, handlers or owners. A dog will never bite such a person with the intent to hurt them. A dog will not use it's total force unless the dog itself is being threatened or it's owner is threatened.

Wonder if you could expound on this post please... I can`t find the first post actually asking about the dog, as we are shortly having one in for residential training, and researching lots, and know of the breed, like most, very little.  Many thanks.   Mo

I have some limited experience with the breed as they tend to end up in rescue when the "pet" family gets one then realizes they are not some cuddly golden retriever.

Most are good with their immediate family but extremely protective and NOT for the average person. Heavy socialization is required during puppyhood. Ive trained a few mastiffs in rescue and they are pretty stubborn but Ive had decent success when I can find their reward button and use that to get to them to do what I want them to do. Most mastiff breeds are highly intelligent so finding that button is imperitive if you want to to get the best from the dog. If you cant find that button then good luck.

There is a rescue that is pretty knowledgable about the breed and Im sure would answer any questions you have. PM me if your interested.
