My wolf hybrid puppy by GSDguy08 on 16 April 2012 - 19:33 |
| So, I got asked today if Auggie was a wolf hybrid. I'd expect people to ask if Little Dude (he was with us too) was a hybrid, but this woman pointed at Auggie and asked if he was one.........I told her he's a German Shepherd, but she still thought he was a hybrid and went on to tell me how she wants to get a hybrid. Then later I had one woman ask me what breed he was, and when I told her German Shepherd she told me he was too small........I told her he's almost 15 weeks old.....Her response..... oh..... So, I'm curious, you guys with black sables, blacks, or bi colors, what all are your Shepherds mixed with these days? |

I would tell you,but then I would have to kill you. hahahah Just kidding. A freind who has worked my dogs for several years now always gives me a hard time about my Axel going back on Orry Antverpa and that Antverpa was know for sticking a Mali in every now and then. So when I line bred on Troll I really hear it now. When ever your tired of "Little Dude" ship him my way. |

| Coyote! That's what some have asked about my female GSD, also sable. When I tell them she's three years old, they think she's too small also. Let's see, my bi-color is mixed with rotti and there's no such thing as a black GSD, don't you know that? If it's not black and tan, people around here don't have a clue. Melissa |

| I forgot about that one Bob!! I have had so many dog people ask if she's a shepwa or malinois!! Ha ha ha... Weird enough, she also goes back to Orry Antverpa. I have heard that before too about mali in the wood pile. Melissa |

| The general public, I've come to the conclusion, quite frankly is completely stupid. hah. If its not 150lbs, walking on its pasterns, with its ass touching the ground, its not a german shepherd. Gotta love the great steryotype! |

| Last time I took one of my puppies to a store for socialization I was supposed to "submit my wolf hybrid from the beginning on her back and make sure I do it often"... I smiled and told her thank you and walked away very fast. That lady was very serious. |

| My friend has a 9 month old dark sable who everyone thinks is a Timber wolf. I don't know why, but apparently sables are wolves :) That being said, I have a typical black and red saddle GSD and I get asked what she is every time someone sees her. Is that an Australian Shepherd? Is that a Chow? Is that a Sheepdog? Some people are retarded, and when you say no it's a german shepherd, they're bumfuzzled. I had one lady love all over Luna when she thought that she was a Chow, and when I said she was a German Shepherd, the lady jumped back like a snake had bit her. Some people. |

| I've had a vet refuse to treat my Czech GSD puppy because they could NOT treat Coyote cubs lol. That is hilarious! Don't know what it's like in the UK but with enough Pike dogs I am going to assume people know black is a colo(u)r. Maybe being too opitmistic. Looking forward to the silly comments. Our Chiswickian Cloud Wolf (husky) is doing well to further information about his rare breed. |

I had a hard time getting people to pet my dark sable 4 month puppy because they were too scared. They thought he was a Dingo...LOL. As an adult he looked like a dark wolf. |

| I have gotten the "GSD's don't come in black." a thousand times. I've only ever had two people guess her breed correctly - one of which also had a black GSD and the other said "Wow, I've never seen a black one, I only see brown with black spots." I've been told she is too tiny, and that she is HUGE. She has also been called a wolf many times. In fact once when we were walking around the lake, these teens were coming back to their cars from fishing and saw us. They were a distance away, but I heard one go "Wow look at that dog!" and then another say "That's not a dog, that's a freakin' WOLF!" And then the whole group starts howling trying to get her attention or whatever. She totally ignored them, as did I. We just kept walking. I also remember a couple of enthusiastic little kids come running over asking if she was a police dog and if I was a police officer. I found out that kids are smarter than adults, and that the general population is completely retarded when it comes to dogs. She's also been called a lab mix a lot, by those people who think every black dog out there has to have some kind of lab in it. |

| juno, that's crazy lol. A dingo? Atlantaworkingdogs that's funny. Thankfully my vet and his staff knew what he was (well, most did). He commented on how good looking he was. |

Here in TEXAS, the ignorance of the public labeled Cualla Bar as part coyote or WOLF..About 5 yrs ago was at the WALMART parking lot with her and 4 of her pups and a lady called the Tyler PD and said I was selling wild Coyotes in the parking lot.. Hello....I also had a breeder from Forney there talking with me and a Immigration officer, her husband from NY, on site and a cocker spaniel breeder I was there helping sell her cockers not my gsd. I had them there in a play pen for social reasons not to sell . I never ever sold one of my pups in a parking lot or on line.. I laughed when they showed up..She was across the lot yelling obsenities at us also..Funny but two Tyler pd have pups from me and they just broke out laughing... Ignorance and plain rudeness has overtaken public when the COLOR IS NOT black and tan. When I tell people I raise Black/red,,....they think oh you have Rottie in them???lol Proud to be the owner of beautiful sables , a bi or two and yes a black girl also. YR |

| As I took my boy into Lowes the other week, a child saw him and hollered through half the store "look Momy, a Husky!" |
