I'm not disagreeing. SchH is the best thing out there in the US, today. The NFL is a good example. They have numerous tapes on all college kids, but they make them go to a combine to evalute talent, they go through interviews, have a pro day at their college, etc, before they are drafted.

In my opinion, the best thing out there as far as sport is concerned that tests a dogs qualities is French Ring, and I'm positive that if the SV allowed it as a equivalent to SchH/IPO, you would see more GSD's doing well in this sport (and as more GSD's participate, I'm sure you'd see less physical problems over time in the breed as well).

I said in the US, today. My state has at least a dozen SchH clubs. Zero FR clubs, how does that help? I would have to travel too far to the only spring trial that just happens to be the same weekend as my nieces wedding. I like looking at the Northern Lights, but that isn't a possibility every night.

I know you didn't just mean Nadeem, Chaz; I'm just saying that other people (like Nadeem) also share that viewpoint and I understand it's origin and can't disagree with it entirely.

the SV rules is the rules that are here in Denmark for breeding to but I dont give a thing for those rules they are crap and really dont matter in choosing a a gsd for breeding but that is the way it is here the SV rules has done nothing good for the breed so I would never breed for those rules

Myret.... that is big talk for someone who has done "NOTHING". YOU mentioned something about all the top gsd breeders dogs having the drive of a poodle. I have a video of my pup on youtube doing dumbell work over the hurdle & wall at 10mo old. Look it up just type in her name ABIGAIL VAN TIEKERHOOK 10mo old dumbell work. She had been doing that a few months before I took the video. Not as clean but doing it none the less. I would love to see a "VIDEO OF YOUR PUP" as we all know it is superior to our lowly schutzhund dogs. Please enlighten us all as to how superior that french bred dog is. After all talk is cheap myret. I'm traveling to missouri... THE SHOW ME STATE. KURT

vomeisenhaus what do you know what I do may I aks ??? no I dont have alot of titles on my own dogs but I do have a few on my own not the pup as I read in this forum the danish people are alot better at titling their dogs that in the states if you are from the states many titel their dogs in schh or PH very fast you dont have to have much experience to see the gsd in alot of dogs that does not own much drive I prefer a mal more and more they do have drive not like these cheep talk working dogs as gsd breeders like to tell that their high drive dogs have and when you see them on the field nothing special about them
by myret on 20 April 2012 - 18:34 |
vomeisenhaus I have not got any video and as I read I have not written anything about any french dogs in this post but let me see all your crazy drive schh dogs in video as far as I know not many of you in here shows videos of your dogs so why should I ?? I have never written that my new pup is better than any of your schh dogs but I see alot of them on the field here and well lets just say I prefer a mali they have drive and dont have to be lifted in their drives all the time as the gsd
by myret on 20 April 2012 - 18:38 |
Vomeisenhaus as far as titling dogs I read the post here what people here have achieved on this forum and not many here have even titled their dogs with a schh 1 even less a schh 3

myret, it's very commendable that your dogs are doing well for you. But, unless you have seen all the working dogs out here, it's better not to lump them all together and trash talk them in general. There are lots of WDs that don't need to be worked up constantly to keep them in drive. Maybe where you train that could be the case. I have a young female in training for schH that has plenty of drive and doesn't have to be hammered at to focus or continually pumped up to maintain drive. In her video she is only fourteen months old and in training for only two weeks. If you want to see the video for reference sake, I'll pm you how to find it. I'm not ashamed to make it public here on the forum, but I doubt many people reading on here could give a hoot what my dogs are all about.

What is this thread about again? I thought the Nascar and noodlin' threads were in the OT section. Oh wait, I see it's another any crappy GSD can get a SchH title and all SchH titled dogs are weak, lazy and worthless. Mali's are better, because every Mali is a super, clear headed, high drive, nerves of steel dog. I am in the selection process and looking for a green dog for our K-9 unit. The dog is going to be a dual purpose Patrol / Narcotics K-9 with a new handler when it finishes training. I tested 6 dogs last week from two vendors. 3 Mali's, 2 GSD's and a Dutch Shepherd. Out of the 6 dogs the Dutch Shepherd tested the best and won the initial selection process only to be ruled out by our vet for a marginal hip. Of the 3 Mali's two were very weak, the weakest of the 6 dogs. High drive with poor nerves or no commitment to the fight. One Mali was super strong and super possessive of his toy or prey object. I liked that dog alot, but during testing he hospitalized the handler who tried to take his toy away. One GSD just didn't impress me as having the level of aggression I want. The last GSD was the second pick after the Dutch Shepherd, but was too soft for my liking but a very nice dog. This GSd and the Dutchie will make nice Police dogs for a different department. Hopefully more dogs come in so I can find a suitable dog. The point is dogs are dogs and there is good and bad in every breed. If you can read dogs you can certainly watch a SchH trial, tracking, OB and protection work and tell who the really good dogs are from the really well trained dogs. If nothing else it gives you a standardized arena to evaluate dogs, if you know what you are looking at. It helps to have titled a few dogs to be able understand the differences between good training and good dogs.

well it was not me started this discussion again I just wrote that we here in Denmark have the SV rules and I did not think it is seperating the good dogs from the bad one have never mentioned schh or nothing like ut until vomeisenhaus got personal lets just say that it does not matter if someone has never trained a dog to see or have an opnion about what they like in dogs does not take 40 schh titles to see
